Guest guest
sri: Our Purvacharyas have never looked at Varna and Jaati, when it comes to learning and practicing SriVaishnavism. Yes the following two points are true. >Dear sir, > >The letter of 'Varna and Jatti' some scholar defined that Vedvyasa is not >Brahmin and Lord Krishna was a Vaishya? Guest guest
Sri: Srimathe Ramanujaya Nama: Dear BhAgavatas, I have a question on Sri Krishna being declared a Vaishya. Sri Krishna was born to Kshatriyas (son of Sri Vasudeva and Sri Devaki) but grew up as a Vaishya amidst the Nandagopa household. Though, He would later on rule Dvaraka as a king. So, does He not become a kshatriya again? Our purvacharyas have declared that to Srivaishnavas only the Sri Krishna up to the killing of Kamsa is important. Perhaps that is why our Azhvars don't even talk much about the Bhagavad Gita. Is this the reason why we would say Sri Krishna is a vaishya? Can someone please clarify? Thanks. adiyEn TCA Venkatesan http://www.acharya.org
Guest guest
sri: Please accept adiyEn's humble pranams Lord, Sri Krishna Took birth in Yadava Kulam, Yadava Family and hence attributed a Vaishya Varna. (Srimad Bhagawadham talks in detail about Lord birth) PS: the Avatharas where lord took birth are, Rama and Krishna Avathara (Kshatriya (Lord Rama) & Vaishya (Lord Krishna) Vamana Avathara Lord is a Brahmana (But No Birth as a human form) Popular MIS-conceptions say that the Vedic religion encourages discriminations of human beings based on one's birth. The truth is the truth, there are differrences, in duties to be performed, in activities etc. But NO-DISCRIMINATION. In fact our Acharyas and MahaPurushas are so revered that even talking about their varna is not proper. In fact that is the attitude towards all Sri Vaishnavas, once a devotee has undergone Samashreyanam (Initiation to become a Sri Vishnava). One we undergo intitiation we identify ourselves as rAmAnujA dAsan (and that is the same regardless of any caste, age, or gender). Hence all that matters is that we are Ramanuja Dasan. Contrary to recent attempts in certain parts of India, To DO away with caste by putting down the Vedas, the AchAryas of Ramanuja's tradition were able to put caste in a proper perspective without challenging the authenticity of the Vedas, or the validity of what the scriptures had to say on the subject of caste. By showing people the true role that caste played in Vedic life, they were able to bring all of their followers on par with one another, irrespective of race, caste, creed or gender, under the umbrella of God's Unconditional Love and Grace. In the eyes of the Lord all are same, and everyone has been give this blessed birth. This is an oppurtunity to fall in love with God, and realize our true purpose of life, irrespective of race, caste, or gender. > Sri: > Srimathe Ramanujaya Nama: > > Dear BhAgavatas, > > I have a question on Sri Krishna being declared a > Vaishya. > > Sri Krishna was born to Kshatriyas (son of Sri Vasudeva > and Sri Devaki) but grew up as a Vaishya amidst the > Nandagopa household.
