Dear Devotees,

In this post,to the best of my capacity/understanding,

I'll try to elucidate what exactly Modern Physics is. Mind you,I'm

not a true physicist(fundamental research in unfolding the truth) but

come under applied physics!

 

Relativity Theory does not challenge classical physics(Newton's laws

of motion and Maxwell's electro-magnetic field laws)but completes it.

But quantum theory vindicates(classical physics),defies (i)reality,

(ii)locality (iii)causality and (iv)determinism! Modern physics is

based on the Copenhagen interpretation. Many believe in physical

reality. A physical reality is a model in which any physical

phenomena exists independent of the observer. Copenhagen

interpretation of the above four views are given below.

 

Reality:

 

If we have to agree with Copenhagen interpretation,then matter

doesn't exist untill an onserver looks at it. So basically,"reality"

is observer-created. It's the consciousness which creates the

reality. Infact,it's taught in Quantum Mechanics course that it's the

observer's knowledge that creates the physical result. You can come

up with your own examples to refute the argument. Only thing is you

need to be cautious and careful in devising suitable examples. Moon

is not there when nobody looks at it. When a tree falls in the

forest,the noise is not heard/no noise if there is no observer. You

can keep on going like this. We have created the universe out of our

consciousness(otherwise there is no universe)! Einstein was opposing

this view till his last day. This crazy idea of Copenhagen

Interpretation(matter doesn't exists untill an observer looks at it)

is coming from wave-particle(duality)nature of light. It behaves

simultaneously as a wave and particle. If an observer looks at light

as a particle,he finds a particle,if he looks at light as a wave,he

finds a wave(ghataka sruti). So things are created by the observer's

knowledge! Physicists used to crack jokes(plenty of jokes on many

stuffs like this!)about light as follows:

 

On Mondays,Wednesdays,fridays,light behaved like particle

On Tuesdays,Thursdays,saturdays,it behaved like a wave

On Sundays it behaved like both

 

Locality:

 

What this means is that no action on my part can affect what other

person sees. Quantum Theory is non-local and violates light barrier.

Light barrier is a concept/assumption in Relativity that no material

object can travel faster-than-light speed. For example,there is a

Enrico shop which sells three types of pizzas(Sicilian,Milanese,

Neopolitan)which delivers pizza at your doorstep in 10mnts. Assume

that it takes 30 mnts to bake the pizza. This means that the pizza

must be ready when I phone to order. But according to QT this is not

the case! the shop fellow in no way can know what I'm going to order

unless he has some telepathy and knows beforehand what I'm going to

order. He doesn't decide to prepare the pizza after i order. So even

before ordering,he must have the pizzas ready so that it can be

delivered in 10 mnts. This is an example for local-ness. QT says he

has telepathy(non-local,information travels faster than light)about

what I'm going to order before-hand and keeps the pizza ready. Nobody

will believe this!

 

Note:Physicists have concocted a dream of the possible existence of a

particle called tachyon(faster-than-light)but so far no experimental

evidence has been detected.

 

Causality:

 

QT is non-causal. Causality is a belief stemming from logic. What is

logic?

A. Make an assumption

B. Prove that it leads to a confirmation/contradiction of A and hence

C. Conclude that A is true/false

 

Shankara's advaita suffers from fundamental logical flaw. He assumes

1. Brahman,is self-sufficient,perfect,unconditioned and not subject

to the subordination of illusion

2. Individuall self(Atma)and Brahman are non-differnt in every manner.

3. If two beings/things which are non-different in every conceivable

and perceivable way,then they are same

4. Atman and Brahman are non-different in every conceivable and

perceivable way

5. atman and Brahman are one and the same

6. Atman is not currently aware of his true state(non-different from

Brahman due to its temporary state of subordination to illusion.

 

If Shankara had stopped with 5,he would have been fine. He was in

deep waters b'coz of his last statement which is a contradiction to

the first. What does this say? That "MAyA/illusion" is ontologically

superior to Brahman(Ramanuja says). Let's come back to QT. Nothing

can be created from non-existence(causal). Everything is causally

connected. Without a cause there is no effect. But QT says,modern

physics doesn't require a cause. The German Physicist(founder of

Uncertainty principle and Matrix mechanics) says:"law of causality

is no longer applied in QT". In reality(different from quantum

reality),either the statement or the negation of the statement is

true;only one of the two is true as per classical logic. But in

QT,this has to be modified! How? There is a third possibility which

is,in strange way,mixture of the two former possibilities.

 

The famous Schroedinger's cat(cat is 67 yrs old and it has got twin

daughters!)explains quantum reality and non-causality. Schroedinger

is the founder of wave mechanics(he represents the quantum system by

a wave). Heisenberg's matrix mechanics(he represents quantum system

by a matrix)and wave mechanics are two different approaches of

solving the same problem and yielding same results. There are two

more approaches(based on copenhagen interpretation)called Dirac's

Transformation theory and Feynmann's Path Integrals. All give the

same results. I'll briefly explain this "cat" example.

 

There is an ideally isolated system which contains a Geiger counter

and placed near a radioactive source that emits gamma rays. the

intensity of the rays is adjusted in such a way that in an hour,there

is a 50% probability of the Counter to record one count. This counter

is connected to a device,which when countoccurs,willshattera flask of

deadly poison that would then fill the box where the cat is located.

there is a 50% probability that no count will occur leaving the box

intact. Experimenter seals the box and leaves the system undisturbed

for an hr and at the end of the hr,Schroedinger asks: "what is the

quantum mechanical state of the system just immediately before the

box is opened and observation is made?" Acc. to QT,cat is half dead

and half alive. It's only when the observer opens the box,does he

determine the fate of the cat!

 

Determinism;

 

QT is non-deterministic,deals with statistical averages(randomness).

This uncertainty(Heisenberg and Bohr's complementarity principle is

related to uncertainty)does not lie in our ability to measure but in

Nature itself(nature is absurd!). Einstein sharply remarked that:"I

can't believe that God plays dice with the universe". He totally

disliked the fact that quantum theory implies that reality is

observer-created. His thought experiment(subtle many people

misunderstand incl his two collaborators)counter to Copenhagen

interpretation was: Certain elements of reality exist in the world

that are not described by the quantum formalism.

 

most of the westerners are brainwashed by the advaita theory. Lots of

germans do research in srivaishnavism. Most of the views of

Copenhagen interpretation reflects advaitic views.

Einstein,Schroedinger,Dirac,Bell,Bohm were all opposing it staunchly.

Only time can answer. Since the road to "better" interpretation of

Copenhagen interpretation was closed for almost 4 decades,only in the

past decade,physicists started devising sensitive instruments(no

where near Einstein's subtle thought experiment)to either prove

Einstein's standpoint or refute Copenhagen interpretation. Another

important aspect of QT is there is no attribute attached to the

reality. Before I eat apple,apple would have had the attribute of

sweetness(irrespective of my eating or not). But QT negates it. It's

because of my eating(observer's knowledge)that apple has got the

attribute. So many fat books have been written on QT and one can go

on talking. But i wanted to post it to convey the message "the

limitation of science". You know what Einstein did with his Nobel

Prize money? half the money went as alimony to his first wife

(Einstein was hardly earning anything even to support the family,his

wife wasn't happy,she wanted a comfortable life and Einstein couldn't

afford,and already they had two sons,first was mentally retarded,the

couple separated)and the remaining half for charity.

 

A quote from Einstein(more than a wonderful theoretical physicist,he

was a great human being,he was a free spirit,was easily approachable

by anyone without barriers):

 

"A human being is part of the whole(universe);a part limited in time

and space. He experiences himself,his thoughts and feelings as

something separated from the rest- a kind of optical delusion of his

consciousness. This delusion is a kind of a prison for us,restricting

us to our personal desires and affection for a few person nearest us.

Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our

circle of compassion to "embrace" all living creatures and the whole

of nature in its beauty. Nobody is able to achieve this completely

but the striving for such achievement,is in itself, a part of the

liberation and a foundation for inner security"

 

Readers may wonder where I'm heading towards. But don't forget that

Einstein was a firm believer in God. Karma on one side and Lord's

grace on the other side!
