Guest guest
Sri Parthasarathi thunai Srimathe Ramanujaya Namaha Dear Sri Mukundan, You are indeed doing a great kainkaryam by writing about the lord's acharya, and to our pride our acharya, Sri Manavala mAmunigal. When you write the greatness of one acharya there is no room for anyone to think it as disrespect to any other acharya. Swami desikar is ofcourse our acharya and we have all enjoyed the series of posting on his greatness for quite some weeks. Now that Mamunigal's thirunakshatram is fast approaching it is a right time for all of us to think about that great mahan, Sri periya Jeeyer and you have taken the credit of starting writing about him first and making all of us cherish to have such a great acharya. At different times we enjoy remembering the greatnesses of different acharyas and talking about the same to others (mainly like-minded people to make them also cherish the same). Now it is the time to think of our great "Ettu perukkar" Sri Manavala mAmunigal. It will be very nice if more people could write about our acharya. Ranganatha was probably jealous of us because we say with pride that mAmunigal is OUR ACHARYA and that is why he also listened to periya jeeyer's bhagavat vishayam, stopping all his other utsavams for a year and submitted the "SrisailEsa thaniyan" to the revered acharya and till today does everything a shisya has to do to an acharya. Thereby, namperumal shares with all of us, the great acharya. Let us all think positively and act according to the words of our alwars and acharyas. Thondaradi podi alwar says “pEsittrE pesalallAl”. We Srivaishnavas are like parrots, each one of us know to only repeat what our poorvAcharyas have said. If anyone talks against the words of our poorvAcharyas then he is considered as a ‘moorkan’ (“munnOr mozhindha murai thappAmal kEttu pinnOrindhu thAmadhanai pEsAdhE than nenjil thOttrinathE solli edhu suttha upadesa varavAtrathenbhar moorkarAvAr”). So when we write the greatness of our acharyas, there is no need for establishing on what pramAnam one is writing since true Srivaishnavas do not exaggerate things and let us enjoy without any controversies. Let me conclude with the words of the great Acharya, manavala mAmunigal in his Arthi prabhandam, “thennarangar seer arulukku elakkAga pettrOm thiruvarangam thirupathiyE eruppAga pettrOm manniya seer mAran kalai vunavAga pettrOm madurakavi sol padiyE eruppAga pettrOm munnavarAm nan kuravar mozhigal vulla pettrOm muzhudum avai namakku pozhudhu pOkkAga pettrOm pinnai ondru thannil nenju pErAmal pettrOm pirar minukkam porAmai ella perumaiyum pettrOmE.” This is one of the excellent paasurams of mAmunigal. Let us enjoy in detail this paasuram in a separate posting. Sad that somebody misinterpreted your intentions. If we look into Sri Ramanuja's life history there were many who did not agree to EmperumAnAr. Sri EmperumAnAr never forced anyone but helped them to see things on their own in a better spirit. What's wrong in writing about one's AchArya? As you said many people don't know who Sri MaNavALa MAmunigaL is. Infact I got couple of mails from X voluntarily and due to voluntary controls X didn't even want to know who Sri MM is let alone his works. Fortunately NammAzhvAr's "avaravar thama thamadhu(1:1:5)" came to my rescue. Let the blessings of Sri MaNavALa mAmunigaL/Periya Jeeyar be with you always.
