Wish you all a Happy Celebration of Sri MaNavALa mAmunigaL's Tirunakshatram. After Muslim invasion,Srirangam was in a bad shape. It was Sri MaNavALa mAmunigaL who brought the Srirangam temple to normalcy by restarting all the regular schedules that was interrupted by muslim invasion. He got himself involved in lecturing on bhagavad vishayam (tiruvAymozhi),temple renovations, structured the temple management just as EmperumAnAr did. Without his commentaries on various works,we (atleast I)would not have been able to appreciate the works of pUrvAchAryAs especially Sri PiLLai LOkAchAryA(a genius). He undertook all these commentaries for the benefit of common masses so that all of us can enjoy the greatness of our sampradAyam. AchArya is like a mother who is all compassionate. In Sri Vachana BhUShaNam,Sri PiLLai lOkAchArya says that AchAryabhimAna is the ultimate upAya. Does it mean that it contradicts the Lord being SiddhOpAya? Sri MaNavALa mAmunigaL explains that it does not. Infact AchAryabhimAna culminates in Lord's SiddhOpAya(AchArya is an avatAra of the the Lord Himself,SVB 407). Sri MaNavALa mAmunigaL very beautifully defends Sri PiLLai lOkAchArya's writings in Sri Vachana BhUShaNam. Service to the AchArya should not be considered as repayment for the great benefit AchArya has done for the soul. Sri PiLLai lOkAchArya[sVB 432]says:"Repayment to the AchArya is possible only if there are two Ishvaras and four realms". Sri MaNavALa mAmunigaL says that if one looks at the magnitude of the benefit that AchArya showers on the soul by providing the Lord and His vibhuthis, there is no possibility for repayment. The greatness of Sri MaNavALa mAmunigaL lies in explaining those subtle, complex sutras of pUrvAchAryas in concise and terse form. srimathE ramya jAmAthru munInthrAya mahAthmanE | srirangavAsinE bhUyAth nithyasrIr nithyamangaLam || AzhvAr EmperumAnAr Jeeyar TiruvadigaLE saraNam nappinnai
