Guest guest
SRIMATHE RAMANUJAYA NAMAHA APPAN THIRUVADIGALE SARANAM Dear Bhagavathas, Accept my pranam, Another similarity beteen Yatheendrar and Yatheeendra Pravanar is pointed out here. Both are Sanyasins out of compulsion. Normally one is expected to enter the sanyasa asrama after enjoying Bramhacharya, Grahastha, and Vanaprastha asramas. Now days every body prefers to remain as grahastha through out life to celebrate 60th and 80th birthdays. Ramanuja wished to have the sesha prasadham of Thirukkachchi Nambikal, the spiritual advisor to Ramanuja. He belonged to a lower caste and therby hesitated; but, could not avoid Ramanuja’s wish. So, on the appointed day when Ramanuja was out of his house to invite him, Thirukachchi Nambikal came to Ramanuja’s house by another route avoiding Ramanuja and had the feast from Ramanuja’s wife. She was an average woman interested in social habits only. She cleaned the place where Thirukachchi Nambikal had his food and took bath and cleaned herself. When Ramanuja returned home and came to know the facts, he was very much disappointed. Ramanuja’s wife might have been pleased to offer a dinner to a noble man. But, she did not extend the same nobility when another poor man who was very hungry approached Ramanuja. She turened him out on the pretext that there was no food in the house. There was food and she could have offered as desired by Ramanuja. Wife is known as ‘saha dharmini’supposed to uphold the dharma of husband. Without her co-operation the ‘Grahastha’ asrama is incomplete. When there is no co ordination between husband and wife life becomes dull. Ordinary folks somehow get adjusted to prolong the family life. But, in the case of person like Ramanuja, who is man with missionary zeal life is impossible. He sent his wife to her father’s house and took to sanyasam In the case of Yatheendra pravanar the problem was different. He had many close relatives. The “Theetu” on account of birth and death among these relatives affected his service to society. So, he also took to sanyasa. Both were great persons who risked their family lives for the sake of humanity. We are fortunate to have two great Acharyas. Adiyen Ramanuja dasan, T.Parthasarathy.
