Guest guest
Sri: Srimathe Ramanujaya nama: Dear bhAgavatas, Salutations to all. A nice conversation between Tirumangai AzhvAr and ParimaLa Ranganathan of divya desam TiruindhaLUr/ MayilAduthuRai/mAyavaram. ThirumangaiAzhvAr has done mangaLAshAsanam in 10 pasurams for this divya sthalam. Nobody would direct you if you say tiruindhaLUr but only mAyavaram parimaLa rangan! Chandra, one of the navagrahas prayed to this Lord and got rid of his dosha. Indu is another name for chandra and he prayed to the Lord that the place should be named after him. So the name TiruindhaLUr. Moolavar: ParimaLa ranganathan with four arms in vIrashayanam on Adisesha ThAyAr: ParimaLa ranganAyaki I want to go straight to Tirumangai's dialogue. When Tirumangai AzhvAr came to this place, the temple doors were closed. AzhvAr got really mad about His locking Himself before he saw Him and hence he told PerumAL "vAzhndhE pOm nIrE". AsaivazhuvAdEththum emakkingu izhukkAyththu* adiyOrkkuth desamaRiya umakke ALAyth thiriginROmukku* kAsinoLiyil thigazhum vaNNam,kAttIr emperumAn!* vAsivallIr! indhaLUrIr! vAzhndE pOmnIrE. (PT:4-9-4/1331) Suppose one of our best friend has got our stuff and when we ask,he doesn't give. Then what do we say? We say "okay, you keep it to yourself". Similarly Tirumangai wants PerumAL and archAvatAram is the desired object. When he comes to worship the PerumAL and if He doesn't show HImself, then obviously AzhvAr would say "okay You admire Your own beauty". Now Tirumangai blackmails the Lord: Tiumangai:knowing very well that i'm Yur dAsan,You locked Yourself without giving me Your darshan;this is not just an issue between You and me;people will only blame You for not showing Yourself to me who wanted to see the You. Lord:Don't worry about people blaming Me;I will look after that. Tirumangai:AzhwAr desparately wants to see Him,so extends the conversation. O PerumAL,something You can not bear, has happened now Lord: What is that? Tirumangai:Normally when some thing leaves us,we forgetting that, go behind some other thing by nature. But i'm not like that. The more You keep Yourself away from me,the greater the bhakti towards You. Kaliyan says You know who we are? "maRanthum puRanthozhA mAnthar";" eRRaikkum EzhEzh piRavikkum unthannOdu uRROmEyAvOm unakkE nAm AtseivOm"; "ichchuvai thavira yAn pOi indiralOkam ALum,achchuvai peRinum vENdEn" and goes on By nature we only praise You because of our love for You. You can tolerate people talking anything about You but not Your devotees. Everybody knows that i'm all the time in divya desams only. And for such a devotee,if You don't show Yourself,it will only be a disgrace for me! Lord:He keeps quiet because He wants to extract as many pAsurams as possible from kaliyan. Tirumangai:O PerumAL,just as nityasUris enjoy Your beauty in vaikuNTa, You out of Your grace had taken arcAvatAra incarnation for the sake of people in BhUlOka. TiruindhaLUr is one such place where You live. How can You be so indifferent to me? Lord:He is stubborn, still not showing Himself, and keeping quiet. Tirumangai:arcAvatAra is ArAvamuda(never ending sweetness)for devotees who desire to see You. If You don't want to show that also, then You keep Your beauty to Yourself,i'm leaving this place. Lord:PerumAL is now scared that kaliyan may actually leave the place and He also would get less pAsurams,so He started conversing again and after getting 10 pAsurams HE shows Himself to parakAlan.
