Guest guest
SRIMATHE RAMANUJAYA NAMAHA APPAN THIRUVADIGALE SARANAM Dear Bhagavathas, Accept my pranam Some more similarities between Emperumanar and Manavala mamunikal are narrated below. Sriman Nathamunikal, by his yogic powers foresaw the advent of Ramanuja. As per his wish, his grand son Sri. Alavandar was in search of Ramanuja. He had the occasion to see him in Kancheepuram at Sri.Varadharaja samy temple and was convinced that he was the person in search.”Aam Mudhalvan” He instructed his great 5 disciples, Peria Nambi, Thirkkosjtiyur Nambi etc,. to prepare Ramanuja for the leadership .His wish was conveyed to Ramanuja and he fullfilled his mission. Similarly, Thiruvaimozhip pillai considered Manavala mamunikal to be the fittest person for the leadership and prepared him for the same. He orderd Manavalamamunikal to concentrate on Thiruvaimozhi’ The information as available in Peria Thirumozhi 5.8.7 is reproduced here. ‘VAREER AZHZKIZ MANAVALARE! AAZHVAN, BHATTAR, NAMPILLAI, MUDHALAANA NAM MUNNORKAL , ELLA SASTHRANKALAIYUM MURRU MUNARTHAVARKALAKA IRUNDHUM AAZHVARKALUDAIYA EERA CHORKALIN ANUBHAVANKALAILE OONRIYIRUNDHU AVARRAI PARAPPUVATHANIYE CHIRANTHA THONDAKA KONDU, VAAZHAINDHU VANADHADHANAI NEER ARIVEERE! Azhzkia manavalare! Our elders like Aazhvan, Bhaaatar, Nampillai and others , though they were wellversed in all sastras, engaged themselves in understanding the kind words of Aazhvars and their experiences. They spent their lives in propagating Aazhvars Arulicheyals and considered it as the great service. You are well aware of this. Periyavaachan pillai has observed that Nampillai studied ‘Dwayam’in the first place and learnt Ithihasa Puranankal and learnt Nyaya Meemamasa for engaging opponents;but, spent his life on spreading Aazhvar’s Arulichyalkal. You know this also. So, you too, learn SreeBhashyam once and do not spend your time more in sanskrit granthas .Always spend your time in Thiruvaimozhi and other Arilicheyals, which are dear to EMPERUMANAR AND ME. Improve the treasure of Lord Aranganatha. Spread the Thiruvaimozhi of maaaran, Live in Thjiruvarankam just like our elders and make this Leela vibhoothi like Nithya vibhoothi and be in service always to Lord ranganatha.) On one Panguni Uttiram, Emperumanar surrenderd at the lotus feet of Lord Rangaraja of Srirangam. He was orderedby the Lord to live in peace, preaching ‘Dwayam’ at Srirangam till he departed for ‘Paramapadam’. (Gadyatrayam 19) Similarly Manavalamamunikal was ordered by Lord ranganatha to perform ‘Kalakshebam ‘ on Thiruvaimozhi. “NAAMAAR PERIYA THIRUMANDAPAMAAR! NAAMPERUMAAL THAAMAKA NAMMAI THANITHAZHAIYHU NEE MAARAN CHENTHAMIZH VEEDATHIN CHEMPORULAI NAALUMINGU VANDHURAI YENYRU EEVUVATHE VAAVYITHU.’ (Who am I?, how great is periya Thirumandapam? Namperumal of his own accord has called me and commanded me to explain the Maran’s Thamizh veda saram. How fortunate am I?) He conducted ‘kalashebam for a year and at the end was honoured by the Thanian ‘ “Srisailecha dayapatram dheebakhtiyathi gunarnavam Yatheendra pravanam vandhe Ramyajamadharam munim” as Acharya Guru dakshina. Both these two great Acharyas were honoured by the Lord Ranganatha and ordered to remain in Srirangam performing their Kainkaryam. What a great Honor they had and how fortunate we are to be in their footsteps? Adiyen Ramanuja dasan, T.Parthasarathy.
