Guest guest
srImathE rAmAnujAya namah This is from what adiyEn has heard from elders regarding "gangai koNdAn maNdapam" (aka gangaNaan maNdapam, the degraded colloquial form!) This term refers to the maNDapams built by the chOzha king (rAja rAja chOzha?) who had the name "gangai kONda chOzhan", and after whom "gangai koNda chOzha puram" is named after. Apparently, he built several maNdapams in various divyadEsams (kAnchi and thiru-alli-k-kENi come to the mind immediately), and set in motion several utsavams to bring perumAL to that maNdapam. (obviously, the brahmOtsavams would have been done from time immemorial, but the maNtapa-p-padi at GK maNdapams might have started only after this). adiyEn rAmAnuja dAsan, varadhan ramanuja, "KRISHNA.A.V <avkrishnaa>" <avkrishnaa> wrote: > > Dear Bahavadas > > pranams > > Can anyone please explain why the name "GANGAI KONDAN MANDABAM" - The > place where emperuman stays for some time at the time of his porapadu. > > > Adeyen Ramanuja dasan > > VenkataKrishnan.
