Guest guest
NEED FOR ACHARYAN In the sixteenth pAsuram 'nAyakanAi' the need for celebrating and approaching the 'dhwAra pAlakargaL' is questioned. Those who show us the good path and help us in achieving big ends are celebrated. 'kadagarai sEshi enRu irukkumavargaLirE ivargaL'. Here the need for this is discussed. 'prapathi paNNugiravan ivanAgil, pERu avanAlE Agil,ivargaLai(adiyArgaLai/AchAryargaLai) munnidurigaradhu en ennil,sAbarAdhanAna ivan prapathi paNNugirAn enRu ivanudaiyaya pUrvAvasthaiyai ninaithu Eswaran sivitkenak kUdum. adhu seiAdhapadi maRukkavonnAdha manisariyittu poRuppikkaVENum' -ArAyirappadi. If the total surrender to the Lord is to be done by us and the Lord is to bestow mercy on us, then what is the need for surrendering with the help of an AchAryan ? The Lord may,on analysisng the soul's earlier misdeeds reject the plea. However, the Lord will not be able to refuse the request when approached thorugh great souls like AchAryan. Further, the Lord may also feel a bit sad that all these years He has not done enough (made the soul to wait so long)for the soul (despite the fact that He has done a lot) for rescuing Him. The AchARyan's support will help in warding off the inhibition in the Lord. The Edu vyAkyAna avadhArikai for the thiru voi mozhi "thirumAl irunjOlai mali" 10-8 throws further light in this regard. The Lord has rescued us today. Why has he ignored us all along? What is the reason for rescuing us today? AzhwAr finds no reason for this. He asks the Lord regarding this. "on the basis of adhVEsham from your side. There is no indifference towards me from your side now" is the Lord's response. Even that indifference is given by the Lord and is also not a means and on further discussion and as the Lord has no response, becomes very shy and starts looking at the ground and scratches the ground with His legs. Right from the beginning, the Lord creating the World and strived for creating desire in the souls to attain Him and finally showered His unlimited mercy. Hence, it may be observed that the Lord may also feel shy on the question of being leaving the souls all along and AchAryan in-between will help to make the atmosphere informal for both the souls and the Lord. vAnamAmalai padmanAbhan
