Dear bhAgavathas,

 

This mail should have reached you all 2 days back on hanumath jayanthi but due

to some reasons it is being sent a little late. Still let us enjoy the

greatness of anjaneya, the great rAma bhaktha in a very shortened form.

 

Sriman Narayanan has taken innumerable avatarams in this world. Among which 10

are considered to be very important. Even among the 10 only 2 avatharams are

generally given high prominence, the rAmAvatAram and the krishnAvatAram.

“karpAr rAmapirAnai allAl mattrum karparO! KEtpAr kesavan keerthiallAl kEtparO!”

wonders nammazhvar. If one wants to learn how to live then the only example

from whom he can learn is Sri rAma. Krishna’s story can be enjoyed by one and

all from a small kid to an age-old person but can Krishna be followed?

 

In rAmayana, the prime bhaktha was anjanEya like the gopis in krishnAvathAram.

The greatness of hanuman (anjaneya, maruthi) is beyond words. “bhuddhir balam

yesO dharyam….” The list is never ending. Siriya thiruvadi anjanEyar is

considered to be in the position of an acharya in our sampradayam. He was the

one who went across the great ocean, reached sita devi and gave her life by

reciting the rAma nAma. Then he returned back to perumal and told him “drustA

seetha” and gave perumal life. Not only did he give life to perumal and

piratti, he saved the whole ayodhya kingdom. How was that?

 

After the 14 years exile, perumal and piratti were returning back to ayodhya.

On the way bharadwaja muni wanted to treat the rama parivar. So rAma had to

halt there for sometime. But bharatha has promised to jump into the fire if

rAma didn’t return intime after completion of the vanavAsam (exile). So hanuman

fled to ayodhya and informed bharatha about the arrival of Sri seetha rAma and

prevented him from jumping into the fire. So now maruthi has saved a very great

bhagavathan’s life. If bharatha jumped into the fire then perumal will also

follow him and so will piratti and lakshmana. Then consequently all the mothers

and whole of ayodhya will sacrifice their lives. So it was siriya thiruvadi who

saved the whole ayodhya kingdom.

 

Perumal and piratti feel for not being able to do anything in exchange to all

the help hanuman has done to them. Perumal hugged siriya thiruvadi and showed

his joy. Finally when perumal was returning back to his abode he asked hanuman

to accompany him but anjaneya replied “bhAvO nAn yathra gachchathi, I cannot

live without the darshan of you as seetha rAmar so I donot want to come to

paramapadam and have darshan of paramapadha nAdhan. I will remain here and stay

wherever rAmayanam is read and enjoy your archathirumenis”. Thereby siranjeevi

hanuman remains even today wherever rAmanyanam and rama nAmam stays. “yathra

yathra ragunAtha keerthanam thathra thathra kruthamastha kAnchalim pAshpavAri

paripoorna lOchanam mAruthim namatha rAkshasAnthakam"
