Guest guest
Converting SBE 48 Sri Bhasya to eText: For some time now I've been exploring ways to get books on Sri Vaishnavism (sv-books) wider distribution, so individuals like myself could gain access to these books either at their local library or online. Placing sv-books at local libraries in the US requires some groundwork (which will be done over time), For now, it so happens that the Sacred Books of the East Vol. 48, which is G. Thibaut's translation of Sri Ramanuja's Sri Bhasya, is beyond copyright and a good candidate to be placed online as an eText. Given that, I chose to make the necessary enquiries and began the process of turning it into an eText. The process is broadly as follows 1 Gain copyright clearance This has been done with http://www.sacred-texts.com and is being finalised with http://promo.net/pg 2 Scan in the book 3 OCR the scanned pages into text 2&3Being done by me 4 Proofread it, using appropriate format guidelines Could use volunteer help here 5 Place proofread eText online The easy part. Item 4 is the most time consuming (and interesting), and it is here that I'd like to request for volunteers. The task involves looking at the scanned image of the page, and ensuring that the text matches the image, keeping a few formatting rules in mind. There are a total of 800 (400,2-up)pages, which I've broken into blocks each consisting of 5,2-up pages, which could be comfortably done in one sitting. Do send me an email if you are interested in helping. Thanks Srinivasan Sriram e ajiva_rts ===== Moderators note: This is a very worthy effort.
