A surrenderer has to perform saranagati. Saranagati to Rama is through Sita - Sridevi. Saranagati to Varaha is through BhUdevi and Saranagati to Krishna is through Nila devi. This is the reason behind Andal mentioning nappinnai in Tiruppavai and bhattar too. Alwar mentions the three nachiars as Pon mangai- Sri devi, nila mangai - bhudevi, pula mangai - the consort of senses - indriyams. It is Nila devi who keeps Bhagavan under control by her bhogam. Vedanta Desika says in Daya satakam - nisAmayatu mAm nIla yat bhOga patalai: druvam .... Andal, singing nachiar tirumozhi as the daughter of perialwar - mentions about rukmini. But singing as a gopika in tiruppavai she mentions only nappinnai. Krishna was a kshatriya by birth - he married Rukmini according to that. He was brought up as a vaisya - gopa - he married nappinnai according to that. Pramanam - nIla kulEna sadrusI khila... Nappinnai is the brothers daughter of Yasoda. Nappinnais brother is sudhama. There is no explicit mention about nappinnai in Srimat Bhagavatam or Sri Vishnu Puranam. Three divya desams giving importance to three consorts - tiruvellarai - Sridevi, Srivilliputur - bhUdevi, Tirunarayur (nachiar koil) - nIla devi. nIla suktam also says - ghruNAhi - ghrutavai - payasvati etc mentioning the characteristics of a gopika. the glories of nIla and nappinnai are well explained by Putur swamy in Sri BhU nIla sookta vyakhyanam. Kindly refer. =============================================================== sakrdhEva prapannAya thavAsmIthi ca yAcathE | abhayam sarvabhUthEbhyO dhadhAmyEthath vratham mama || VR.VI.18.32 sarvaDharmAn parithyajya mAm Ekam sharaNam vraja | aham thvA sarvapApEbhyO mOkshaiShyAmi mA suca: || BG.18.
