On the other hand many Iyengars who don't follow Sri Ramanuja to the core, do worship to Ganesha but they are not Sri vaishnavas. I am not highly educated in this subject, but from what I have learnt in my readings and elders is following. We as Sri Vaishnavas follow Sriman Narayana. Vishwaksena is the senapathi of Sriman Narayana, where as Ganesha is the senapathi of Shiva. Therefore all our prayers start with praying to Sri Vishwaksena. This does not mean as Sri Vaishnavas we don't have respect for Ganesha, but we are not sure if he is a bhakta of Sriman Narayana or not therefore we are not sure if your devotion should be to him. This is the highlevel reason, I know. Sri Velakudi Swami, or Varadhan mama (Mukundan's father) can shed light in more detail what our Shastras, Vedam and prabandam state. I request either of these qualified scholars to share the reasoning in detail. Sincerely, Ramanuja Daasi Manjula
Guest guest
Sri Krishnaya Namah! Dear Bhavathas, I was also given to understand that while SV have Srimannarayana as the Lord, Vishwaksena as Senapathy and Garuda kambam in temples, as per aagam shastras, for those who worship Shiva, Ganapathy is the Senapathy and they have Nandi kambam as per aagam shastram. I don't understand why this difference. Infact Linga Puran (one of the tamasic puranas) written by Krishna Dwaipayana hails Shiva as Supreme. Do these tamasic & rajasic puranas are believalble or are just for entertainment sake that He has written these. Sukumar Sri Krishnaparabrahmane Namah! manjusriram96 [sMTP:manjusriram96] 24/04/2003 12:54 AM ramanuja [ramanuja] Re: need clarification ramanuja, "Nagraj" <g_nagraj@h...> wrote: > Dear All > > Even i requried some clarification,Infact i have asked several time > these question but none of them have replied. > Do Iyengar worship lord Ganesha,But lot of them say no pl let me > know what wrong in worshiping Lord ganesh/Vinayaka. > > Kindly do replay > > nagaraj Respected Sri Nagaraj, Sri vaishnavas don't worship to Ganesha.
