Srivaishnavan.com basic Vaishnavam course/ offered live in the US

dear bhAgavathAs,

 

VEDICS, in collaboration with srivaishnavan.com is in the process of

organizing a structured, live, course on srIvaishNavam. This is

done in co-ordination with Srivaishnavan.com. Srivaishnavan.com is an

organization in India dedicated to providing srivaishnavite material

to everyone. It has, as its advisors, many prominent scholars of the

present day, and has put together a wonderful course.

 

The contents of the course can be seen on srivaishnavan.com.

 

VEDICS is planning to offer the same course in the US. We intend to

provide a live learning environment, in the traditional santhai

format that many of us have learnt the basiscs from in India. The

objective is for all bhAgavathAs to have by-heart atleast the basic

stOtrAs, and prabhandhams, and have knowledge of the meanings of

them.

 

the first module of the course (first quarter) consists of the

following stotras

KRISHNA ASHTAKAM

GAJENDRA MOKSHA STOTRAM

SAPTHARSHI STOTRAM

JITANTAA STOTRAM

PARAANKUSHA ASHTAKAM

CHATUSLOKI(KANTAA STOTRAM)

RAMANUJA CHATUSLOKI

 

We intend to conduct the course in a traditional manner through a

conference call. There will be one-word santhai for a couple of

days, followed by two-word santhai, half-line, full-line and full

slOka. There will also be a discussion session about the meanings of

the slOkAs led by one of the students. An extract from the santhai

schedule is appended to the end of this email. We also intend to

provide digital files of the santhai on the internet. The cost for

the course will be $60 per year that can be paid to srivaishnavan.com

on their website. VEDICS members will get this course free of cost as

part of their annual membership fee.

 

At this time, we intend to start the course on May 6th (May 6th is

rAmAnujA's thirunakshattiram).
