SRIMATHE RAMANUJAYA NAMAHA

APPAN THIRUVADIGALE SARANAM

Dear Baghavathas, Accept my pranam.

After along interval, Adiyen have found a little interval to join you.

Hot discussions are going on regarding Varnashrama dharma, Origin of God and

Nirhethuka krupa.

Let Adiyen share my understandings regrding Varnashrama dharma.

“Chathurvarnyam Maya srushtam Guna karma vibhakasah:”

This is Lord Krishna’s words in Baghavat Geetha4.13.

The four fold division society, i.e., Brahmana, Kshatriya, vaisya and sudra are

his creation.

What is the criteria?

Gunas: Satva, Rajas and Thamas

2.Karma: the work each does: Teachin and guidance, governance, agriculture, trade

and undustry, and service respectively.

Incidantally, birth is a secondary factor as the qualities can be inherited by

the ward from father and so on.

But, birth lone does not count to decide that one is a brahmin or otherwise

Purusha suktha also confirms this message.

:BRAHMANO ASYA MUKHAMASEETH’

Thought and mental process arises from head, a vital part of the body

‘Satva quality is the predominant factor(guna) for this ‘varna’

Everyone is a mixture of “satva, rajas and thamas” qualities.

‘Satva” is the predominant quality of Brahmin

They are seekers of knowledge and Brahmam.

They guide the society.

Similarly, persons of other varnas have rajas, rajas and thamas and thamas as

predominant ‘gunas’

All of them work in unison for the welfare of the society.

# In the modern world as any body can do any job can it be said that the

division of society as mentioned above is irrelevan?

#So, the Lord’s creation of ‘varnas’ has become defunct?

NO.

God has designated society into 4 divisions and the persons occupying the

designations should possess the qualities required for that varna. Otherwise he

is a misfit in that position.

They cannot be called as brahmin etc., by birth alone.

Lord Krishna, Sage Valmiki,Vyasa and Nammazhvar are not brahmins by birth.Yet

they are great persons. We respect them as our teachers

In fact one born in a brahmin family is initiated to brahminhood by “UPANAYAN’

and thereafter it upto hom to keep up the tradtion.

A brahmin is a simple,honest, austere person.

He is always engaging himself on Emperuman and guides the society.

He is not conceited or arrogant because of his position, knowledge or birth.

How many of the present day brahmins will fulfill these conditions?.

2. So far Srivaishnavites, especially “Prapannas” are concerned, there are 2

divisions in the society.

..

Srivaishnavites and others. “

(Thirumalai.39. ADIMAIYIL KUDIMAI ILLA AYAL CHATHUPETHIMARIL’ KUDIMAYIL KADAMAI

PATTA KULLARIL)

AYAL CHATHUPETHIMAR.=Those who have learnt 4 vedas. They are not interested in

‘Kainkaryam’

‘Kukkar’=Lowest class) 4 divisions are acknowlwdged by Prapannas, yet, for them

there are 2 divisions only

They are for ‘Kainkaryam” “Seshathvam”

And that too for EMPERUMAN ONLY

They always consiuder(feel)whatever they do is not for them.”Namaha”

It is for Emperuman, Sriman Narayanan…”Narayanaya”

#Sir, It is O.K. for one who is bent upon Mokhsha.

What about persons who areimmersed in day to day life?

Let us make ourselves clear.

We should not get confused by modern thoughts clashing with Indian Philosophy.

Basically all thoughts of various schools of Indian Philosophy agree in general,

that life is a mixture of pain and pleasure.

One should get away once for all from world to escape from this eternal process

..of pain and pleasure. That is ‘Moksha”.

When we say ‘One” who is this one?

We believe, so says our scriptures ,that there is ‘Athma:’ pervading all parts

of the body.

When ‘Athma’ is separated from the body it means death.

Death means cessation of functions of that living thing, be it human, animal,

plant life etc.,

The body which was made out of nature merges with it.

What happens to Athma..Soul?

The Athma is neither born nor dies. It is eternal

It had some experience in the present life and earlier lives also. It will have

more experiences in future lives by taking some other bodies There will be no

end to this process till it gets released once for all from the world.

In the modern world the above concept is forgotten or forsaken…rather, strange

fanciful fallacious ideas are circulated

Scientific advancement of matter has made people to think in terms of body that

is gaining experiences. Utter confusion.

Various parts of the body are instruments for inputs and out puts.

The experience gained is for the Athma.(I, WE, HE, SHE etc.)

Is ther only one Athma?

Then all of us should have the same experience at the same time.

So, many Athmas are experiencing for ever.

We are not interested to know more about them as such.

Believers of God also aspire for material benefits, offer prayers and seek help

from God.. But, correct and sufficient knowledge and effort therefor are

necessary. You cannot fool God with a simple prayer or offer.

Your effort pays dividends in due course of time. You have to enjoy the

reactions of your actions. You cannot escape from it. So, another experience in

the present life or in future lives. Never ending process

Is there any way out for this?

YES.

Bhagavat geetha teaches

Thiruvaimozhi teaches.

When one surrenders with absolute faith to Emperuman he he feels that he is

doing everything for the pleasure of Emperuman and it is his duty to do so..

He is honest and does not aspire more than what is required to keep his body and

soul intact. He is a Prapanna. His spiritual progress is cared by the Lord.

On the otherhand , if he aspires for personal pleasures, he keeps a distance

between him and God. His knowledge is not mature. He will have the experiences

under the watch/guidance of Emperuman.

‘KARNAYEVA ADHIKARASTHE; MA PALESHU KATHACHANA’B.G.2.47

Do your duty. Do not aspire for results

@ Isnit not strange for any body to do some thing without aspiring for results?

If you aspire for result you will have to be in samsara for ever

Even ,our aspirations and efforts for reaching him will bind us in samsara. On

the other hand, his grace to redeem us is the proper way.

So, do the actions as a ‘Dharma kartha”

Dharma Kartha: He does not consider himself as the doer othe action. He does it

, because it is his duty.

He does not aspire for the results

This kind of detachment paves the way for salvation

# Should not people of talens and knowledge be proud of it?

Yes, You have chosen to remain in the world

Here, let us sit down and think a while. When there is number of Athma ther

should be super forcr. We identify it as Emperuman and he is the creator of

every thing.

When everything is Emperuman’s how can he feel that he is a separate entity?

If he feels that he is capable of doing independently---that is because of his

ignorance and arrogance.

Even if he is a believer of God, he is still after sensual pleasures

When all are parts of Emperuman(Purusha) how one can feel greater than others?

All are doing the duties for the pleasure of Emperuman.

Baghavat geetha is essentially a moksha sastra.

Lord Krishna advises Arjuna to do his duty.

It is equally applicable to us also

Have absolute faith in ME forsaking other dharmas.

Is this not contradictory?

The first advise is for the welfare of the society.

The second one is for the salvation of the soul surrendering to HIM.

Follow his advice. He will look after you

Thiruvaimozhi teaches the relation between us and Emperuman

The way to reach him…RATHER, He is after us. His Nirhethuka krupai

All we have to do is to acknowledge him and he will do the rest.

All devotees are dear to him and they belong to the ‘Thondar kulam”

One need not envy other . Let them share their experiences.

# Is that much easy?

Them why sgould there be many scriptures prescribing ‘dos’ and don’t dos?

You want to rely more on the sastras given by Him rather to surrender to him.

You will have to travel a l….o….n….g w…a..y It is your choice

When you are prapanna, You never feel proud of being a brahmin or feel low of

being Sudra.. Head and legs are needed for the body and they have to do their

respective jobs in the modern world also, though you may be a brahmin by birth

or other wise according to the dominating GUNA you have

In you.

The write up is getting lengthier. The subject under consideration will consume

lot of pages. To abridge it in a write up is not possible.A guideline only can

be given.

Simply lead a life of meaningful Prapanna.

Learn Thiruvaimozhi,NDP, BG and other scriptures

Knowledge will grow Never get conceited. REST IS HIS BUSINESS.

You are only a tool in HIS Leela.
