Guest guest
Srimathe Ramanujaya Namaha Dear Bhagavathotthamas, Today is the day of the greatest celebration for all of us the "prapannas" and when adiyen say "us" it is not an exclusive group of the knowers/followers of the Ramanuja Sampradayam but the group to which "all the beings" in this world belong to. As Azhwar says "Vaikundham Puguvahdu Mannavar Vidhiye", every jeevatma is destined to attain the moksham, so there is no special effort that needs to be put in to attain the moksham i.e the moksham is not our goal. The goal is to support the lord in his Jagath Vyaparam, and perform everything with an understanding that he is the "doer" "means" and the "result". Understanding the jeevatma paramatma relationship itself is the realization as per this wonderful sampradayam. Adiyen would like to share a small piece of information that Adiyen had heard in one kalakshepam and request the learned scholars to correct me in case of any misinterpretation/misunderstanding. In the following post, examples are cited only for a better understanding. Please do not conclude that the avatara purushas cited were not perfect ones etc. This is a view portrayed only to have a nice "bhagavadh/bhaagavadha" anubhavam. Rama-anuja means the brother of rama, in fact anuja means the younger brother. How many ramanujas do we know of(in our sampradayam:)? The first one was in the Rama avataram. He was called Lakshmana, the younger brother of the lord Rama. He was the very avataram of the adi-sheshan. As the name "seshan" explains, he was the perfect example of the "sesha bhutatvam" of the jeevatma. What is Sesha Bhutatvam? It is the understanding that the lord is the master and that we are the servants for him. Alright. So, if we understand that we are his servants, is that enough? What is the use of a Servant who understands that he is a servant, but does not do anything as per the will of the master? Well. That was what was portrayed by Lakshmana. He portrayed that he was the Rama sevakan all the time, but did those kainkaryams that he thought as the kainkaryams and not as per what the lord thought as the kainkaryam. Many a times he did not do exactly what the Lord instructed. Rama asked Lakshmana to stay in Ayodhya, but he did not. Rama asked Lakshmana to stay with Sita while he was away to hunt the deer. He did not stick to it. There are many instances.. So, Lakshmana avataram was able to portray Bhagavad Seshatvam, but not Paratanthryathvam of the Jeevatma(Bharatha did portray this). The next Rama-anuja was Lord Krishna who was the younger brother of the Bala-Rama. This Ramanuja tried to show the paratvam and tried to explain the greatness of the Saranagathi. He spoke 18 chapters of philosophies to Arjuna Alas, it was all in vain. As soon as the pandavas entered the war, they forgot all that the lord had said and forgot that the lord was the doer. In the end of the war, they were competing with each other and were proud to have done so many "sahasams" in the war, none of them realizing that they did not do anything. Out of the track, Adiyen had heard the following story, but do not know whether it is in the Vyasa Mahabharatham. Before this war, there was a small yet interesting incident that had happened. Bheemasena had a grandson(son of Katodgaja) called "Burbarigan"(or is it Babruvahanan?) He had such a phenomenal power that he could kill the entire army of the Kauravas or the Pandavas in just a fraction of a second. But, he had a vrtham that he would not be partial to anyone and hence will do what ever was requested by his elders and that it would be on a first come first serve basis. Bhima, after knowing about this, hurried to meet his grandson to ask him to side him. Krishna was already there. Then came duryodana who also knew about this. Bhima and Duryodana were asking their grandson to side them. Due to the dilemma, he declared that Krishna was the one who came first and would abide by what he says first. Lord did not hesitate. He just asked for Bubarigan's head. He too willingly offered the same to the Lord. So, Lord used his Sudharshanam to take his head off. After this, the head requested that it would like to view the kurukshetra war and hence the lord dipped it in the amrutham so that it becomes eternal and kept the head on top of a cliff from where the war could be watched. Back to the subject, after the war, when people were praising themselves for having accomplished various tasks, they all decided that Burbarigan's head was a witness and it would tell them a clear statistics of who killed the most and who fought well etc. So, they all went to it and asked the same question. The head was annoyed and replied humbly that it did not see any of those people fighting in the kurukshetra. It also mentioned that it was krishna who was fighting on one side hitting krishna on the other side. It swore that it saw no one else there:)) So, even after his Bhagavad Gita, people really did not care to understand Him(ofcourse this was his leela too but kindly forget the same for the moment:) - "Manmisai yonigal thorum pirandhu engal madhavane kannura nirkilum kanagilla", hence this Ramanuja was a failure to an extent too:( The third was the great Yathiraja, our Emperumanar who was born on this glorious day. This day declared the decline of the Advaitam "Uyirgal Mei Vittu Adhipparnodu ondram endru sollum avvallalellam vaadhil vendran" This day declared the decline of the jains, sankhyas, the buddhists, the karma meemamsakas and other veda kudhrushtis "Tharka Samanarum Sakkiyap Paeigalum Thazsadayon sorkatra Sombarum Sooniyavadarum Mandanar" This day was when Kali accepted its defeat "Venkali ingu ini veeru namakkilai endru nalindhidu naal" This day was the birth day of the Bhavishyathachariar(Ramanujar) whom Nammazhvar foresaw and praised his period "Poliga Poliga Poliga Poyitru Valluyircchabam Naliyum Naragamum Naindha Namanukku Ingu Yadhondrumillai" This Ramanuja made people realize the greatness of the lord, that the previous ramanujas failed to explain. "Ulagorgalellam Annal Iramanusan Vandhu Thondriya Appozhudhe Nannaru Nyalam Thalaikkondu Naranarkku Aayinare" This Ramanuja explained the unrevealed secrets that were under the custodianship of the brahmanas, to the world. "Aasayudayorkkellam aariyargal koorumendru pesi varambarutthar pin" This Ramanuja was proudly accepted as the Elder brother of Shri Andal who exclaimed so from the Archaavadaram itself after seeing his "Nooru thada akkara adisil" that he served to the Sundara Bahu(Kallazhagar) in order to fulfill Andal's promise that she made in her pasuram "Naaru narum pozhil Maaliruncholai Nambikku Naan nooru thada niraindha akkara adisil sonnen" and hence Shri Andal is proudly portrayed as his sister "Perumbudhur Maamunikku Pinnanaal Vaazhiye" This Ramanuja explained paramatma, jeevatma swaroopa, sambandam as per the intent of the Sruthis(all inclusive, i.e the karma, brahma kandams) and wrote the Bhashyam. Only this Bhashyam was called as "Shree Bhashyam" unlike that of the Sankara, Bhaskara, Yadhavaprakasa Bhasyams. This Ramanuja explained the greatness of the "Bhaagavadhas" and explained the greatness of the Bhaagavadha Kainkarya. He was the one who placed our Nammazhwar on top of our Acharya Paramparai "Eendha Mudharthai Satagopan Moimpaal valarttha idhatthai Iramanusan". This Ramanuja accomplished the task of explaining the Seshatva, Parathanthryathvam of the Jeevatma and the Seshitva, Swathanthryathvam of the Lord and thus remains unconquered and tops the list of "Ramanujas":) I request the learned scholars to add the list of his "feats" as I am not that knowledgeable for the same. "Vazhi Ethirasan Vazhi Ethirasan Vazhi Ethirasan ena Vaazhthuvar Vazhi ena Vaazhthuvar Vazhi ena Vazhthuvar Thaal Inayil Thaaztthuvar Munnor Thalai" "Parpamenatthigazh Painkazhalum than Pallavame Viralum Paavanam Aagiya Painthuvaradai Padhindha Marungu Azhagum Karpagame Vizhi Karunai Pozhindhidum Kamala Kannazhagum Kaarisu than Kazhal Soodiya Mudiyum Kana nar Sikhai Mudiyum Muppuri Noolodu mun Kaiyil Yendhiya Mukkol Kannazhagum Munnavar Mozhindhidum Mozhigal Niraindhidum Muruval Nila Azhagum Eppozhudhum Ethirasar tham Vadivazhagu en Idhayatthuladhaal Illai Enakkedhir Illai Enakkedhir Illai Enakkedhire" "Vignyapanam Yathithamdhyathu Maamakeenam Ankeekurushva Yathiraja Dayampurashe! Agnyoyamatma Gunalesha Vivarjithasccha Tasmad Ananya Sharano Bhavathithi Mathva!!" I pray this great Acharya to bless us all and make us think of the lord all the time and devote all our work as a Kainkaryam to him. Let us all try to get hold of this great acharya's holy feet forever "Undhanukku Etthanai Inbam Tharum Un Inai Malartthal Enthanakkum Adhu, Iramanusa Ivai Eendarule" Sarva Aparadhaan Kshamasva Yatheendra Pravanam Vandhe RAMYA Jamataram Munim Adiyen, Ramanuja Dasan
