Guest guest
Why do the Gaudiya Vaishnavism hold the view that only Krishna is god? In Hinduism it is common to regard one's Ishtadevata as supreme and all other deities as aspects or manifestations of him/her. For instance, the Shaivas regard Shiva as Parabrahman and respect Vishnu, Krishna, Brahma, etc. as aspects or manifestations of Shiva and the goddesses such as Lakshmi, Radha, Sarasvati, etc. as aspects or manifestations of Shakti-Devi. The Shaktas also respect the other deities. But the Gaudiya Vaishnavas seem to hold the view that only Krishna is god, all other deities are mere demi-gods. Why? Did Sri Chaitanya preach that? Is this view shared by all Vaishnava sects, or are there branches of the Vaishnava tradition that follow the classical Hindu tradition? On which scriptures do they base their view, and on whose interpretation of these scriptures?
Guest guest
SRI: Hare Krishna Dear Prabhu, to your question i hope to give you a bit information well to introduce myself i was born into a shaiva family in Tamil Eelam (Sri Lanka). i follow now the Vaishnava path and this because of full faith in Krishna/Vishnu. All my life i was looking for those questions similar to yours. I was 17 years when i read The Bhagavad Gita As IT IS from A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupad,my hole life changed from then. Sri Krishna himself declares to be the Supreme Personality of Godhead in the holy Gita, Bhagavan Krishna says all the other Gods/Godneses are HIS expansions are intened to those Humans who want to live a materialistic life . However if you do want to go back to the Paradise which is mentioned as Krishnaloka/Vaikuntha etc.(many other names exists) than you have to follow in the path of the Gita which means in the Spritual path of life. Well now you could ask, there are so many Gita Visions by so many Authors, which one is the true ONE?? Sri Krishna says only those who are in HIS Guru parampara are entiled to "speak, act" in behalf of HIM. This Guru Parampara is explained by Krishna Himself. There Sri Krishna says who is a REAl Guru of HIS Guru Parampara. I myself read through accidentally the biography of A.C. Bhaktivedanta Prabhupad then read the Bhagavad Gita As IT IS, from him. His life was stunning and is an example for others to follow in Prabhupad footsteps. hope to have given you some information Hare Krishna/Om Namo Vishnue Namaha your servant adiyen Rangan ramanuja, "Alexandra Kafka" <alexandra.kafka@a...> wrote: > Why do the Gaudiya Vaishnavism hold the view that only Krishna is god? > > In Hinduism it is common to regard one's Ishtadevata as supreme and
Guest guest
Sri: Srimathe Ramanajaya nama: Srimad Vara Vara Munaye nama: Dear devotee, I like to share with you what I have heard! The guru paramapara,be in the tradition of Advaita(Shankaracarya), SriVisishtadvaita(Ramanujacarya) and Dwaita(Madvacarya),starts ONLY from Narayana!!! The successive AcAryas/gurus differ in each tradition. This Ramanuja e-group addresses "Sri"Visishtadvaita. The immediate AcArya next to Narayana is "Sri" the Goddess of wealth, who is never separated from Narayana and hence Narayana is "always" addressed as Sriman Narayana. Hence the Tradition of SriRamanujacaraya is called as "Sri" sampradAyam/tradition. Guadiya VaishNavism is a branch of Dwaitha and Sri Chaithanya Mahaprabhu belongs to 16th Century. Sri Madwacarya (proponent of Dwaitha philosophy)starts with Narayana as the first AcArya. If this be the case, then why did Sri chaithanya mahaprabhu says only Krishna as the Lord? You can base your own conclusions or seek AcAryAs who have "digested" the vedas. Shankaracaryas of Kanci Mutt always sign as "Narayana smrthi" and whenever they give speech they always end it as "Narayana,Narayana,Narayana". Remember that Bhagavad Gita is a Smrthi(secondary) text and only Shruthi is the "CORE/PRIMARY" text. So one has to do proper study of the vedas before making any conclusions. I have heard that Adi Shankara wrote his commentary on Brahmasutra based mainly on abhEda shruthis(nirguNa brahman) and he even left out so many passages that deal with nirguNa brahman. One can not afford to leave any passage or go out of shruthi to make commentary on the same. One has to consider the vedas/shruthis in its entirety otherwise one would come up with erroneous conclusions! Although my hearthrob/favorite God is SriRama, this did not prevent me from realising that Sriman Narayana is EVERYTHING and other Gods namely SriRama,SriKrishna etc are only manifestations of this Supreme God. In nutshell, every quality found in the names of SriRama or SriKrishna are there in Sriman Narayana too but all the auspicious qualities in Sriman Narayana are not found in SriRama etc. If you know Mathematics, you can think it as a "one-many" map/function. The "one" represents Sriman Narayana and "many" represents SriRama or Sri Krishna etc... ->Vishnu ->->SriRama ->->->SriKrishna Sriman Narayana ->->->->Srinivasa ->->->Vasudeva ->->Govinda ->"X"[you can fill it up with one of the thousand names of vishnu] The above figure is only a rough example. You see that Sriman Narayana is related to Vishnu(& other Gods) which means whatever quality Vishnu has,Sriman Narayana has too. Same logic follows for all other names. On the contrary Govinda does not have all the qualities that Vishnu has. These two names will have "atleast" one quality which is not shared by both. Same is true with all other names appearing on the right. This clearly shows that Sriman Narayana is the Supreme God. I seek the forgiveness of bhAgavathas in case I have misinterpreted our tradition!
