Guest guest
Sri: Srimathe Ramanujaya Nama: Veerasigamani Pallavarayan asked Bhattar "As I am involved in the matters of the kingdom, I don't get the opportunity to listen about the Lord. Therefore, please teach me something in which I can take refuge in". Bhattar told him "Think about the beach". Pallavarayan did not follow what Bhattar was saying and stood looking confused. Bhattar then explained "Sri Rama reached the salty ocean and stood in its beach like an ocean of nectar. A huge army of monkeys was waiting under His command, while Ravana was on the other side. The army being of this world became tired after work and fell asleep. At which time, Rama and Lakshmana walked around with their bows and arrows protecting the entire sleeping army all night, like a bird protecting its egg under its wings, as if they were walking walls. Therefore, take your refuge in that Lord's hand and in the bow that He carries". That is, if He protects us while we sleep, then where is the need for us to ask Him to look at us? Guest guest
Dear Sri Srinivasa Chary Swamin, adiyEn has not seen this story attributed to Periya- vAccAnpiLLai, but guru paramparA prabhAvam attributes the same story to Bhattar and NampiLLai. Since NampiLLai is the direct disciple of Nanjeeyar, who was always with Bhattar (after being initiated by him into Ramanuja sampradhayam), it is not surprising that NampiLLai would use the same example. Just as Nanjeeyar asked very many interesting questions to Bhattar, so too did NampiLLai with Nanjeeyar. adiyEn madhurakavi dAsan --- srinivasa chary <srinivasadasa wrote: > Dear Swamin, > SrImathE RAmAnujAyA namahA! > Adiyen happened to read this reply attributed to > Sri PeriyavAchchAnpillai elsewhere. > DAsoham! > -Srinivasadasa > --- vtca <vtca wrote:
Guest guest
Sri: Srimathe Ramanujaya Nama: Dear devotees, This reminded me of some famous lines but don't remember who the author is. The content goes like this: There is a devotee. He observes another pair of footsteps besides his during all happy moments in his life. But during times of crisis,he observed only one pair of footsteps. So the devotee asks the Lord:" whenever I was happy you accompanied me,but when I was undergoing tough times,I saw only one pair of footsteps. Why didn't you accompany me those times?. The Lord replies: Those footsteps were mine and during difficult times,I carried you in my arms". It is because of that antharyAmi,we all escape from heart attacks during difficult times.
