Guest guest
Sri Parthasarathi thunai Srimathe Ramanujaya namaha Sri Vara Vara munaye Namaha Feeling pleased with the deep interest of elaiyazhvar to undergo the panchasamskaram immediately from Periya nambigal, nambigal seated him under the magizha tree. As per the pramanic verses, “manthrasamskarasithyartham manthradeekshAvidow tathA I chakrasya dhAranam prOktham manthrai: panchAyudhAni vA I” “chakrAdhidhAranam pumsAm para sambhandha vEdhinam I pathivrathA nimitham hi valayAdhi vibhooshanam” Nambigal did thApa samskAram (putting the mark of sanghu and chakra on the left and right shoulders of the shisya with a heated marker) to elaiyAzhvar. As per the divine verses: “nivEshya dhakshinE svasya vineedhAnjali samudham I Moordhni hastham vinishipya dhakshiman jnana dhakshinam I svayam duhriti vinyasya krupayA veekshayEth guru: I svAchAryam hrudhayE dyAthvA japthvA guru paramparAm II A-vam prapathya dEvEsa mAchArya: krupayA svayam I AthyApayEn manthraratnam sarvasandhodhidaivatham II” As per the prescribed rules in the above pramanams, Periya nambigal seated elaiyazhvar to his right and placed his hand over the shisyas head. Concentrating on the divine feet of his acharya, Sri Alavandaar and reciting the guruparamparai in mind, nambigal did the dvaya mahA manthra upadesam along with the angas in the right ear of elaiyAzhvar. Nambigal told elaiyAzhvar,” consider that Sri Alavandaar has left his divine feet on my head for your sake and has left to paramapadam (thirunAdu, the divine abode of emperuman) like Sri rAmapiran placing his divine padhukas on top of bharatha’s head to rule over the kingdom and left to the forest.” Periya nambigal acted only as a limb of alavandaar whereas elaiyazhvar’s actual acharya was none other than Sri alavandaar himself. That is why pillaiamudhanAr says, “edhikat kiraivan yamunai thuraivan enai adiyAm gadhi peRRudaiya rAmAnusan” Elaiyazhvar then requested nambigal to enlighten him on the following queries. “Which is the pramanam? Who is the pramEyam? Who are the pramAthAs?” Nambigal replied, “As per Azhvars paasuram, ‘mAdhavan pEr solluvadhE vOththin surukku’ pramanam is nothing other than the dvayam; prameyam is that which has been clearly explained in the dvaya mahA manthram, that perumal who stays in hasthigiri with the divine conch and sankra in his hands; pramatha is none other than you; So now come to enjoy the pramEyam along with this pramanam”. The very next day, both of them went to have the darshan of E-ri kAththa rAmar and did mangalasasanams to him. “As per the praise, ’sa rAmO lOkaranjana:’ Oh! My lord you have saved this darshanam from becoming a barren ground “. After doing mangalasasanam to chakravarthi thirumagan they left to perumal koil.
