Guest guest
Sri: Srimathe Ramanujaya Nama: Dear Baghavatas, My pranams to one and all of you. My name is Sampath Kumar and I live in Atlanta, USA. I recently joined our Ramanuja Group. I am sincerely amzed by the depth and wealth of knowledge shared by the baghavatas of this group. I feel this is an opt forum for me learn more and more baghavath vishayam and also clarify the doubts that arise due to my ignorance. I come from a Thengalai Iyengar family and have studied and lived in various parts of India and finally after my higher education settled down in USA. During my early years, due to my own ignorance and negligence, I did not show much interest in any of our sampradhayams and also not involved my self in the proper initiation like samasrayanam and learning process. However, due to the punyam of my parents and elders, my interests have improved a lot and I am learning a lot about our sampradhayam. I have mentally and physically surrended myself to Sri Ramanuja and Sriman Narayana. To further purify myself I am learning the process of performing Thiruaradhanam at my house. However, my question is since I have not surrended to an acharya in a procedural sense and had samasrayanam, am I allowed to perform thiruaradhanam? In my present condition I am not sure when I would be able to go to India. I would be much obliged if somebody could clarify on my doubt and with an open mind I will learn from this. Since this is my first communication, this may not be as per the standards and traditions of our group and I sincerely apologize for this. Guest guest
srImathE rAmAnujAya namah dear srI sampath kumAr, welcome to the community of rAmAnuja devotees. > Narayana. Given that you have surrendered mentally to emperumAn and emperumAnAr, and you are in the process of learning thiruArAdhanam, my humble opinion is that there is nothing wrong in you performing thiruArAdhanam. After all, it is only due to His grace that you are learning thiruArAdhAnam (just as it is only due to His grace, that we all are associated with rAmAnuja and our AzhvArs and Himself), and are interested in it. Technically, thiruArAdhanam is one of samskArAs in the pancha samskAram (yAga samskAra). Obviously, when it is the right time, He will make sure that you get samAsrayaNam from an AchArya. A couple of suggestions - (i) Vedics has released thiruArAdhanam tapes that might help you in your learning process. Please see vedics.net for details. (ii) To get samAsrayaNam done, you do not need to go all the way to India! srI tridaNdi srIman nArAyaNa rAmAnuja chinna jIyar svAmi comes to the US almost every year to give solace and guidance to all rAmAnuja sampradAya devotees. Please visit chinnajeeyar.org. When he comes here next time, that may be an opportunity to get samAsrayaNam.
