Guest guest
sri: dear Sri sampath Kumar: Do you know who is the acharya for your family? Talk to your family elders and find out who the family Acharya is (Will come in the lineage of Ramanuja's established acharyas (74) You should go to your family's Acharya for Samashreyanam One of the things being taught after Samashreyanam is Thiruaradhana, (it is one of the samskara) You may learn and perform Aradhana to Lord even now, as you are mentally there. (This is a big step) > have not surrended to an acharya in a procedural sense and had >> samasrayanam, am I allowed to perform thiruaradhanam? In my But still you should get samashreyanam done as soon as you can from your family designated acharya. (Your grandfather, his father etc were with one acharya-lineage, you have to try and be in that lineage's Acharya) This is not a small procedure, though it may seem so to outsiders. Only when you go through this, you will know what it is. It changed me profoundly as a person. (If you are mentally ready to take off the Block, & let his grace flow then this procedure is the most important one in your life) If your family does not have an Acharyan, or none of your family knows about their Acharya they had samashreyanam from, and you are lost in this search, then you may want to have pancha samaskaram done by HH Chinna Jeeyar swami. HH travels to US every Summer (June/ July period)and you can have your samashreyanam done here in the US. www.chinnajeeyar.org
Guest guest
Dear Sri Varadhan Swami, Your advice to Sri Sampath Kumar was nice indeed. But I heard from Sri Vanamamalai Jeeyar himself (when I had visited Nanguneri a couple of months ago) that it is a sin to get Samashrayanam done from another Acharya, when one very well knows who his Acharyan is. If due to some reason he has no knowledge of his Acharyan, then he can go seek another Acharyan. Given that you have surrendered mentally to emperumAn and emperumAnAr, and you are in the process of learning thiruArAdhanam, my humble opinion is that there is nothing wrong in you performing thiruArAdhanam. After all, it is only due to His grace that you are learning thiruArAdhAnam (just as it is only due to His grace, that we all are associated with rAmAnuja and our AzhvArs and Himself), and are interested in it. Technically, thiruArAdhanam is one of samskArAs in the pancha samskAram (yAga samskAra). Obviously, when it is the right time, He will make sure that you get samAsrayaNam from an AchArya. A couple of suggestions - (i) Vedics has released thiruArAdhanam tapes that might help you in your learning process. Please see vedics.net for details. (ii) To get samAsrayaNam done, you do not need to go all the way to India! srI tridaNdi srIman nArAyaNa rAmAnuja chinna jIyar svAmi comes to the US almost every year to give solace and guidance to all rAmAnuja sampradAya devotees. Please visit chinnajeeyar.org. When he comes here next time, that may be an opportunity to get samAsrayaNam. Guest guest
dear srI vimalkumAr and others, I did not mean to suggest that srI sampath kumAr arbitrarily go to srI chinna jeeyar svAmi (or "change AchAryAs"). Given his statement that he may not be able to go to India in the near future, I suggested that there *may* be an alternative way. If someone approaches a different AchAryAn, the first thing that the approached AchAryan would do is to enquire about the approaching person's AchArya parampara. He will further question why this person is approaching him rather than the family AchArya parampara. Only if the situation is such that there is no other way for this person to get formally inducted into the rAmAnuja sampradAyam will the approached AchArya perform samAsrayaNam. (I know for a fact, that srI chinna jIyar svAmi does the most thorough investigation possible, and only if He is satisfied that there is no other way, He will perform the samAsrayaNam). adiyEn rAmAnuja dAsan, varadhan ramanuja, vimalkumar ranganathan <panardasan> wrote: > Dear Sri Varadhan Swami, > Your advice to Sri Sampath Kumar was nice indeed.
