Guest guest
Dear Sampath Kumar Swami: Based on my interactions with Sri. Velukkudi Krishnan Swami and Sri Gunaseelan Swami, it is my understanding that Thiruvaradhanam has to be done with the whole-hearted bhava of being done by one's achAryan. ("achAryan thiruk kaigalal, <thiru mandiram> Snanasanam samarpayami etc..") The person who is performing the thiruvaradhanam doesnt have the right to do it directly to Perumal and hence his achAryan kindly performs it at his request; hence the whole exercise from our side just becomes a kainkaryam to the achAryan only, in my opinion. If you ask the achAryan, he would say that he doesnt do anything and it is all his achAryan who is doing the thiruvaradhanam. The ripple effect goes like this and finally it ends like Perumal doing thiruvaradhanam to Himself. Hence achArya sambandham becomes essential for someone to do thiruvArAdhanam. Best person to get approval on what you are doing is to explain your situation to your family achAryan or someone from whom you would get your samAshrayanam done soon. Do as they suggest you to do. They are highly accessible, rational and are always willing to provide us the right advice to put us in the right path. I am sincerely amzed by the depth and wealth of knowledge shared by the baghavatas of this group. I feel this is an opt forum for me learn more and more baghavath vishayam and also clarify the doubts that arise due to my ignorance. I come from a Thengalai Iyengar family and have studied and lived in various parts of India and finally after my higher education settled down in USA. During my early years, due to my own ignorance and negligence, I did not show much interest in any of our sampradhayams and also not involved my self in the proper initiation like samasrayanam and learning process. However, due to the punyam of my parents and elders, my interests have improved a lot and I am learning a lot about our sampradhayam. I have mentally and physically surrended myself to Sri Ramanuja and Sriman Narayana. To further purify myself I am learning the process of performing Thiruaradhanam at my house. However, my question is since I have not surrended to an acharya in a procedural sense and had samasrayanam, am I allowed to perform thiruaradhanam? In my present condition I am not sure when I would be able to go to India. I would be much obliged if somebody could clarify on my doubt and with an open mind I will learn from this. Since this is my first communication, this may not be as per the standards and traditions of our group and I sincerely apologize for this.
