Guest guest
Sri: adiyen's humble pranam to all devotees of the LORD ThiumanKaapu (Kappu: Protects us) For those who have not undergone panchasamskara only one is worn on the Forehead, For those men, who have undergone panchasamskara all the 12 ThiumanKaapu can be adorned (based on the time and interest)and Namas are associated with each of the 12, hence sometimes ThiumanKaapu is addressed as Namam, (Kesavaya.. narayanaya...) Then Thayar is adorned in all the 12 locations. Rules and the shapes are differrent for different families, areas, and sampradayas. it is better to get the "right"way from your family elders and explanations as well. In our family, ========== For the Y shaped the Padam on the nose is applied first, (denoting Acharya) from the hard part of the nose to the eyebrows, in our family we usually chant "srimathe Ramanujaya namha" while applying the padam In all the other 11 locaitons, perumal is applied first and then the Acharya, This padam also denotes Kainakriyam. (Selfless service), Kainkariya Sri is Adisesha and his Avatara is Sri Ramanuja, Acharya means Ramanuja only for us, thus the padam denotes Ramanuja for us(Those after Ramanuja), For those before Ramanuja this was just to donote their Acharya. Without the Acharya we would not be able to know anything from our Guruparampara. Hence acharya is the most important, as HE teaches us thirumantram, Dwayam and Charma slokam right after panchasamskaram. Acharya here is the representative of Sri Ramanuja and gives the message of the 3 rahasyas that all mumukshus need to know. This is the same message as given by Sri Ramanuja. (And made this available to all interested devotees, Assai udoiOlgalukku Ellam) As long as the Bhava of appying the thirumanKappu and Srichurnam is there, HE will lead us to the righ path. After applying thirumanKappu, that part becomes a temple for Perumal, thayar and Acharya, and they will lead us the right path. ==================================================== PS: No matter the color of SriChurnam the bhava that we are having a temple for Perumal and Thayar is important, everything else becomes secondary. ==================================================== (Future posts will get into detail on how we apply as per Vangeepuram Pattangi lineage traditions)
