Guest guest
Dear Bhagavatas, my humble pranams to you. i have a friend by name Sreejith. He is a Keralite by birth, and they do not have the concept of PUNAL. But this fellow is an exceptional case. He is very interested in Sri Vaishnavism. He wishes to wear a thread (PUNAL). With great difficulty, he has acquired permission from his parents for this. He is asking me for further procedures. So, I request the learned Bhagavatas to give valuable suggestions to go about further. Please do show him the way to proceed, from whom can he get the PUNAL worn, and where. Please help my friend to join the Sri Vaishnava community. Thanks and regards, Srinivas Terakanambi.
Guest guest
Dear Sriman Srinivas, That is not at all required. All he has to do is to follow basic principles of Srivaishnavism as instructed by an Acharya. he can undergo samASrayaNam, but need not request the Acharya for this. let the Acharya take care of his spiritual needs. one need not be a brAhamaNa to be a vaishNava. Guest guest
Sri: Srimathe Ramanujaya nama: Srimad Vara Vara Munaye nama: Dear Sriman Srinivas, Humble praNAms to you and your friend. One showing very much interest in SV is itself a sankalpam of the Divine Couple. One becoming a Sri Vaishnavite is not an overnight process(even after the samAshrayanam) but a journey. Just worshipping Sriman Narayana alone doesn't give one the right to claim oneself as an SV. Does one have the heart to forgive those, who does harm to one, and even become their benefactor or even seek moksha for wrongdoers,on their behalf, like Sri KuraththAzhvAn,the disciple of Sri Ramanuja? Probably the word Brahmin has distorted meaning these days. Devotees can correct me if I'm wrong. A brahmin is he who is in the true devotional service. But a brahmin by birth can become a sudra by conduct and vice versa. One becomes an SV by conduct not by birth. One need not go out of his/her way or put too much self-efforts to become a Sri Vaishnavite. It is enough to associate oneself with fellow SVs(even for this HE will set the RIGHT time!) and the rest will be taken care of by the Lord and the bhAgavathas. Kindly, forgive me for any errors on my part.
