Guest guest
There are many books on the market. One book I suggest is Brahma-Sutras According to Sri-Bhasya of Sri Ramanuja with English rendering and comments by Swami Vireswarananda And Swami Adidevananda Published by Advaita Ashrama of Sri Ramakrishna Mutt, Calcutta. krk4568 <krk4568 wrote:Can anyone point me to ENglish translation of Sri Ramanujan's commentary on Brahma Sutras? Guest guest
Thanks to Sri Sriram the whole of Thibaut's translation of Sri Bhashya is available for download on the web at www.sripedia.org ( http://www.ibiblio.org/sripedia/download.html) or in html at the Sacred Books site http://www.sacred-texts.com/hin/sbe48/index.htm The translation (from what I have heard) is easier to read than the ones by Ramakrishna Mutt. Also, Thibaut is supposed to have largely stuck to the traditional Sri Vaishnava understanding of Sri Bhashya. The introduction section to Shankaracharya's Bhashya at http://www.sacred-texts.com/hin/sbe34/index.html has a comparison of the Bhashyas by the two Acharyas. aDiyen rAmAnuja dAsan Balaji > There are many books on the market. Guest guest
Srimathe Ramanujaya Namaha Dear Vaishnavas, Whatever scriptures or Sutras and explanations reg. Vaishnavism should be read , which were written by our vaishnava Acharyas and scolars only. there is a chance that real meaning of the scriptures may get twisted if it is written by any other people who does not come into the disciplic succession of our Ramanuja Sampradhayam. We should be very careful about that. Guest guest
I COMPLETELY SUPPORT VEDAVALLI RANGANATHAN VIEW. WESTERN SANSKRIT SCHOLARS MOST OF THE TIMES MISINTERPRET THE SANSKRIT SLOKAS. OUR HH CHINNA JEYAR HAS BROUGHT THIS TO THE ATTENTION OF READERS VERY RECENTLY IN ONE OF THE INTERVIEWS IN A LEADING NEWS PAPER HOW PROFESSOR MAX MULLER HAS MIS INTERPRETED THE SANSKRIT TEXT IN HIS VAST SERIES OF ENGLISH TRANSLATION OF "THE HINDU SANSKRIT SCRIPTURES". WHY GO FOR WESTERN SCHOLARS WHEN WE HAVE WELL VERSED SRIVISHNAVITE SCHOLARS WHO HAVE BEEN TAUGHT THE REAL MEANING OF THE SLOKAS BY THE DESCIPLIC SUCCESSION AND WHO ARE MORE COMPETENT IN GIVING THE REAL MEANING IN ENGLISH OR ANY OTHER INDIAN LANGUAGE. AFTER ALL THE WESTERN SCHOLARS LEARNT SANSKRIT FROM US. MY OPINION IS ONE IS WASTING TIME AND EFFORT BY STUDYING INTERPRETATION BY WESTERN SCHOLARS.
