Guest guest
Dear Sri Mohan, Jitante Stotram has no specific author. It is supposed to be recited by rishis in the svEta dvIpa continuously. Narada is supposed to have brought it from the svEta dvIpa to this world. Sri M.N. Ramanujam wrote a series of articles on this work, based on the vyAkhyAnam of Sri Periya Acchan Pillai. You can find them stored at the following location: http://www.acharya.org/vyakyanam/jitante/index.html adiyEn madhurakaavi dAsan --- Mohan Ramanujan <mohan_ramanujan wrote: > Dear BhAgavatAs, > > Could you please tell me the source of "Jitanta Stotram". > This is recited usually during the Tiruaradhanam. > > AdiyEn > Mohan Ramanuja dAsan > New and Improved Mail - Send 10MB messages! Guest guest
Dear Shri Mohan, (Disclaimer: This reply is solely based on my research/private communication with friends and not corroborated by our acharyas) According to Shri Periavachan Pillai's commentary, the Jitante stotram occurs in khila portion of Rig Veda. However, I couldn't substantiate this claim outside his reference. Rig Vidhana of Saunaka which gives prayogas for even the khila mantras seems not to know it. I can double check, but the existing jitante stotra occurs in the pancharatra text paramasamhita.
