Dear devotees,

Humble praNAms to all. I am touching on a topic "who is

a prapanna" which has been discussed umpteen no. of times. Thinking

in retrospect about it will give a different frame of mind to all

who felt affected by the incident at kAnci.

SVB 365: kuRRam seidhavargaL pakkal poRaiyum krpaiyum sirrippum

ugappum upakAra smrtiyum nadakka vENum.

Meaning:In contrast to the normal trend of retaliation for the

wrongs done by one to another, a prapanna exhibits to those, who do

him wrong

(1)TOLERANCE, to such an extent taht even at heart he bears no

malice or thought of retaliation

(2)COMPASSION for the wrong-doers(who can not escape punishment at

the hands of the Lord)and full of love for His devotees

(3)A HEARTY LAUGH(not with ahambhAvam!) at the stupidity of those

people who fail to realise that he/prapanna is outside the boundary

of their mischief-the worst they can do to him, is only the material

harm and he is not in the least worried about it

(4)EXULTATION at that his body, which is the target of attack by

those people, is already looked upon by him, as his enemy(SVB

243:Gives the code of conduct for a prapanna) and that they are his

allies in attacking a common foe and

(5)GRATITUDE to those people who remind him of his drawbacks, which

it was his own duty to keep under constant check/review.

The very previous two sutras 363 and especially 364 are very

beautiful.

SVB 363: pirAtti, rAkshasigaL kuRRam perumALukkum thiruvadikkum

aRiviyAdhAppOlE, thanakkup piRar seidha kuRRangaLai bhagavad

bhAgavata viShayangaLil aRivikkak kadavan allan.

Meaning: Sita didn't reveal either to Srirama or Hanuman, about the

insults/injuries heaped on her by the rAkshasis. Likewise, a

prapanna doesn't disclose to the Lord and His devotees, the wrongs

done to him by fellow human beings.

SVB 364: aRivikka uriyavan agappada vAythiRavAdhE sarvagnya

viShayangaLukkum maRaikku mennA ninRadhiRE.

Meaning: The Supreme Lord(when He goes back to His abode after the

end of His avatAr) does not mention to anyone, not even His consorts

about the unwholesome/unruly(etc) behaviour of the subjects/us.

Wow, how confidential He/Lord is!!! If a jIvAtmA thinks he/she is a

better witness than the Lord Varadarajan of kAnci, then even perumAL

can't help that person because perumAL can only take care of the

three aspects namely sAtvik, rAjasik and tAmasik while it is ONLY

AcArya who can take care(also remedy) of the ahankAram and mamakAram

of the jIvAtmA. That Lord Varadarajan is not a stone. He is

observing everything that's happening infront(or back,side,top,

bottom)of Him. It is His duty to uphold the dharma(BG 4:8). He is

the one who puts all the efforts and comes up with all kinds of

strategies to catch us. We(atleast I) novice/puppets/kaththukkuttis

in sampradAyam and scriptures can not find a solution. At best we

can only support or rather serve all our AcAryAs who represent our

sampradAyam.

srI kUraththAzhvAn prayed to the same Lord of kAnci, that

nAlUrAn(who was responsible for AzhvAn losing his sight) also should

be given mOksham. So, let us think of this great disciple of srI

rAmAnuja, atleast once a day so that such a heart and attitude is

cultivated in us too.
