Dear Sriman Aravind,

 

My guess is, the sculptor might not be a Vaishnavite. He might have

insisted that we should have a gaNeSa idol as per his family

traditions.

 

What about the not-so-old vItthirundha perumAL temple in

thirumazhisai? There also we find one!
