SRIMATHE RAMANUJAYA NAMAHA

APPAN THIRUVADIGALAE SARANAM.

A few words (for your benefit and if you decide so for the benefit

of others also) regarding Satvika Ahankaram are offered below,

Required informations are available in Tatvatrayam,Varthamalai, a

digest of various Srivaishnavite thoughts compiled by PINPAZHZKIYZ

PERUMAL JEEYAR, a disciple of Nampillai, and chapters 17 and 16 of

Bhagavad Gita.

AHANKARA.M. :…Sutra 100 of Tatvatraya…"

AHANKARAM ABHIMANA HETHU" That is the cause of Abhimanam.

`MANAM' ..Thoughts occurred in the mind

`ABHI' shows the intensity.

As the intensity increases, it takes momentum and acceleration

follows. Buddhi is the advisor and controller. The basis for these

thoughts are incidents and the nature of the person who is dominated

by the mixture of 3 qualities, Satva, Rajas and thamas.

The predominating quality rules him.

These 3 qualities are further divided into 9 divisions.

Satvika Satvam

Satvika rajas

Satvika Thamas.etc.,

Satvika Tamas leads one into BHAGAVAM MANTRAS.

Satvika Rajas leads one into PRUTHIVIYATHMIKA VIVEKANKAL.

Satrvika Satvikam leads one into BHAGAVAT SAKSHATHKARAM

(see 6 and 12 of Varthamala)

Sutra 106 of Tatva Traya,…Achit prakaranam.Satvika Ahankaram is the

cause for various actions and also creates Manas.( THANE MANASAI

SRUSHTIKKUM)

Akankaram is the intensity of thoughts

If the thought process is about PRKRUTHI VYAVAKARANKAL, it is (mind)

dominated by Rajas and Thamas qualities which is not desirable for

one who is interested in quitting the Samsara.

On the other hand, SA is desirable as it leads him nearer to

Emperuman.

One, by chance(say his good luck)feels inclined towards

Emperuman,WELL, THIS IS THE OPPURTUNITY Emperuman also awaits.

Slowly and gradually the development of Atmayatra advances.

Because it is God's business.

Emperumanar has quoted.

DEHA YTRA KARMADHEENAM

ATMA YATRA DEIVADHEENAM

ONE THING WE SHOULD BE CLEAR AND SHOULD NOT GET CONFUSED.

There are many Sastras for getting worldly pleasures . One who is

interested in this he has to put his efforts and reap the results

for ever and no SALVATION.

On the other hand if he is to get out of Samsara (This stage occurs

after long experience and proper knowledge,on Emperuman)

He should absolutely surrender him to Emperuman. No effort other

than this is required. HE LOOKS AFTER HIM HEREAFTER.

In this case Satvika Ahankaram is desirable.

THIRUPALLANDU 11. `ALVAZHZKKONRILLA ANIKOTTIYAR KONE ABHIMANA

THUNKAN SELVANAIP POLE'

Abhimanam Nasahethu. ( Deep attachment is the reason for down fall)

BUT, VAISHNAVASBHIMANAM IS UJJEVANAHETHU ( Deep attachment and love

of Srivaishnavism is the cause for salvation)

For those who seek salvation this is desirable.

`ALVAZHAKONRILLA'

"VAZHZKKU"..Our day to day activitiesthat binds us to Samsara

These habits are not desirable for MUMUKSHU and he will not have any

of them.

`ANIKOTTIYAR'…Groups such people who are after salvation

`KONE' The leader of such groups is `SELVA NAMBI'…

His Abhimanam is always on Emperuman and this type of Satvika

Ahankaram id welcome.

SESHATHVAM TO EMPERUMAN ONLY -- IS OUR BIRTH RIGHT.

PARATHANTHARYAM is the relation between HIM and us

He is SESHI and all of us are SESHAs (His servants)

Adiyen hope the informations will be of help to you.

Wish you good luck.

Adiyen Ramanuja dasan, T.Parthasarathy.

i understand that sAttvika ahankAram as a term is there.

But as per my understanding of tattva traya translation, it is not

Suddha sattvam but an effect due to unequal transformations of more

sattva guNa and less rajas and less tamas. Similar view was expressed

by Smt Vedavalli previously.

Should it be attributed to AzhwArs? Are their works not in Suddha

sattvam?

PerumAL, the paramAchArya Himself entered their minds on His own

without any effort by them including surrender. They are hailed by

pUrvAchAryas as "tvadananya bhAvA:.." (stOtra ratna), "chittEpyananya

manasAm samamAhitau tE.." (suprabhAtam). Keeping faith in such great

souls is as good as keeping faith in Him, as done by madhurakavi et

al.
