Dear Vishnuswami

I am thankful for the questions raised which makes the understanding of the

sampradayam clearer.

You have asked quoting from my earlier mail

Parantriyam is making oneself ready so as to deserve the krupai of the Lord.

If Parantriyam is making oneself ready so as to deserve the krupai ofthe Lord,

what is swAtantryam?

Swatantriam can be understood in two ways.

Swatantriam of the Lord is one thing. The other thing pertains to Jivatma.

The Lord has unlimited powers. He has unlimited knowledge. He is not bound by any

constraints. He does things by his sankalpam .Nobody can question Him.These are

the traits of a swatantran. The Lord is the only swatantan and all others are

subservient.

Other one is the exercising of the free will by the Jivas. This is

swatantriam. The consequences of this are 'papa' and' punya' to be

suffered/enjoyed by the soul. This has been explained by Jayashree Saranathan in

her mail on the above subject for which I am grateful. It is hardly possible to

add anything to what she has.stated.

Please excuse me for any inaccuracies.
