MD Tickets: $15 (Discounted at $10 for students and senior citizens) ---------------------- Godha, popularly known as Andal, was a saint poetess who has composed poems of such high merit that they are considered to be the essence of the great Veda scriptures. She is worshipped as an incarnation of Bhu Devi - the heavenly consort of God - Lord Narayana. Andal is one of the twelve Alvars* - saint poets of Vaishnavite tradition. Her father Vishnu Chitha is known as Perialvar (great among Alvars). Based entirely on Perialvar and Andal Pasurams (verses), this production takes a fresh look at the story of Andal and how she desired to be wedded to none other than Lord Narayana. *Alvar means one who is "immersed" in the experience of God, the Supreme Being. Alvars sculpted the Vedic heritage of intensely emotional bhakti, the love of the divine, and Prapathi, unconditional surrender to the Lord. This heritage continues to be practiced today in Indian religious life through Sri Ramanuja’s philosophy. Sri Ramanuja Mission of Srirangam Srimath Andavan Ashramam- www..org is a registered non-profit organization serving the cause of Sri Ramanuja Philosophy in USA Funds raised will benefit ancient temples of India and the livelihood of priests through a non-profit charitable organization “KINCHITKAARAM” of U.
