Guest guest
Kamba Ramayanam is very interesting.I havent read Valmigi's original, but I suspect if anybody can ever write anything like Kambar ever. Rama is asked by dasaratha to go to forest.Rama comes to tell this news to kousalya. She asks him "Who will be the king then?".Ram replies "It will be my brother,Baratha". Kousalya replies as "except for the small problem that he is younger to you, I dont see anything wrong in it.He is three times better than you to rule this kingdom". See this,Kousalya saw Bharatha as three times better than Rama even when her only son was about to go to forest. Kambar next describes the scene of Bharatha going to forest to meet Rama.He meets Guha on the way. When Guha knows why Bharatha has come to forest,he is overjoyed. He hugs Bharatha and says "Even thousand Rama's are not equal to you." See now kambar elevates Bharatha to 1000 times than Rama.Earlier it was three times, now its 1000 times. But see how he ends it. Ram doesnt return after 14 year period.Bharatha is about to jump into fire.Whole ayodhya is weeping.Kousalya runs to stop Bharatha. She says "Dont do it my son.I can live without Rama but not without you.Not even multi million Rama's are equal to you". See now,Bharathas status is elevated to multi million times than rama, the hero of kamba Ramayanam. Why did kambar write like this?Any guesses from readers? Guest guest
Sri: Srimathe Ramanujaya nama: Dear Devotee, It is my guess, that dAsatvam/servitude is the bottomline and the height of all worships to God. bhAgavat kaimkaryam is superior to bhagavad kaimkaryam. We can't serve God directly. He is not going to appear infront of everybody for us to do service to Him. If we do service to His devotees, it is equivalent to serving Him. Other devotees can correct me or add. AzhvAr emperumAnAr jIyar thiruvadigaLE sharaNam NC Nappinnai > Why did kambar write like this?Any guesses from readers? Other devotees can correct me or add. That is what yAmuna muni says. After requesting Him for bhakti or ananya bhOgyatA, he further says that he prefers to be an insect in the house of those having such SEshatva buddhi, rather than becoming even chaturmukha elsewhere. tava dAsya sukhaika sanginAm bhavanEshvastvapi kIta janma mE itarAvsathEshu mAsma bhUt api mE janma chaturmukhAtmanA By serving the AchArya, we get to know of the Lord, as krshNa says "tadviddhi praNipAtEna parpraSnEna sEvayA..". By knowing the Lord and trying to serve Him, we develop love for His devotees and serve them, the most practical way of living (better serve all human- beings than trying to judge whether someone is a bhAgavata or abhAgavata). SVB 412 is wonderful. adiyEn rAmAnuja dAsan Vishnu > > AzhvAr emperumAnAr jIyar thiruvadigaLE sharaNam > NC Nappinnai > > > > Why did kambar write like this?Any guesses from readers? Guest guest
That is true...but...the only problem is when there is a conflict ( due to time/place or any other)between serving two beings which one to choose - who we "think" is a bhagavatha ??? What we think is a not a bhagavatha may be a bhagavatha in His eyes...one can never tell... (better serve all human- beings than trying to judge whether someone is a bhAgavata or abhAgavata). Guest guest
Sri: Srimathe Ramanujaya nama: As Smt Sheela Belur said, why even think who is a bhAgavata/non-bhAgavata. Serve everyone as it is srIman nArAyaNa who is the antaryAmi of all. The only difference is both AcAryA and the Lord reside in a bhAgavata while only the Lord resides in a non- bhAgavata. Am I right?
