anandhyayana kAlam and divya prabhandham

dear devotees,

 

a poster had asked a question of why there are many posts on nAlAyira

divya prabhandham vyAkhyAnams (periya thirumozhi and thiruvAymozhi

related) during the anadhyayana kAlam on some lists - especially when

the custom seems to be not to recite the nAlAyiram, and not do

anubhavam of the nAlAyira divya prabhandha vyAkhyAnams during this

time (with certain exceptions during the month of mArgazhi).

 

adiyEn cannot speculate on other lists. As far as the Ramanuja list

is concerned, here is why we are allowing the posts -

 

(i) According to some scholars, the non-recital of divya prabhandham

and non-anubhavam of nAlAyira divya prabhandham vyAkhyAnams certainly

is a custom being followed.

 

(ii) Some others have told us that the non-anubhavam of vyAkhyAnams

is not the custom, and in fact, anubhavam of vyAkhyAnams is

encouraged. We have seen several upanyAsams during this period that

quote extensively from our nAlAyira divya prabhandham and its

vyAkhyAnams (after all, what upanyAsam is possible without the

anubhavam of our AzhvArs?).

 

(iii) Given the above uncertainities, we really did not want to

impose the custom on our posters. We provided the guidance given by

the two scholars we solicited opinion from (srI vELukkudi svAmi and

srI VPS Varadhan svAmi), and we will leave it to the posters

discretion. After all, they may get guidance from scholars they know,

and they may have gotten the guidance that vyAkhyAna anubhavam is ok.

 

(iv) Bhagavad anubhavam comes through His krupa. If it is His krupa

that we get to enjoy bhagavad anubhavam via the posts of our posters

during this time, in the absence of a clear cut rule, we do not want

to stand in the way of bhagavad anubhavam.
