Guest guest
Narayana Narayana Sriman Narayanan was pleased with Sage Agastya's unwavering and unfaltering devotion. He said, "Oh Agastya, I am pleased with your devotion. I am very happy with your penance. I understand your desire. Just as the yadu vamsham, cursed by Yayathi, was sanctified by my birth, just as the kaveri became more sacred than the holy ganga by my divine grace, so shall your mother tongue -the Dravida bhasha (tamil)- be considered equal to the Daiva bhasha (samskritam). Henceforth, the southern part of India (Dravida desham) shall be sanctified by my presence . I shall incarnate as the son of a king named "Kari", in a place called as "Kuruka nagari", situated on the banks of the holy Tamraparni river. I shall be called as "Shatakopan". In that incarnation, I shall translate all the Vedas and shastras to your language-Dravida Bhasha, in thousand verses. At the same time, all the Nityasuris namely Ananta, Garuda and Viswaksena, all my weapons namely Panchjanya, Sudarshana, Koumodaki, Nandaka and Sharnga, and all my Divya parivaram comprising of Lakshmi, Srivatsa,Kousthubha, Vanamala, etc. shall incarnate at the end of Dwapara yugam and at the beginning of Kali yugam in different places. Some of them take birth in high class families like Brahmana and Kshatriya. Some shall take birth in lower classes. Some of them shall come to this Earth as "Ayonija"s (not born to humans). Although they will be born as ordinary humans, they shall never give up their Divya Jnaanam in their incarnation. With a mind to uplift the poor souls in this world and help them cross the ocean of samsara, they shall recompose all the shastras and Vedas in your mother tongue-Tamil. The Divya Prabandham, so composed by me and my Divya Parivaram, shall amount to 4000 verses. Of these, the thousand verses that I compose, as "Shatakopan", will be considered as "Lokottharam"(supreme-beyond this world). All my devotees, called as "Sri Vaishnavas", shall master these 4000 verses. Just as Veda Vyasa compiled the Vedas and divied them, so too shall I compile all the 4000 verses of the Divya Prabandham, when I incarnate as "Shatakopan". This will be called as "Dravida Vedam". This Dravida Vedam shall be considered as equivalent to samskrita Vedas. Since my devotees master both the Vedas, they will be entitled to be called as "Ubhaya Vedanta Pravarthaka"s."
