Guest guest
sri: Humble pranam to all devotees: To add to the point mentioned by devotee Nappinnai, Apart from Specific mention of Thayar, some other points are: In Dwayam: 1) the Adhikari is mentioned, (i.e who is this for, can use this) 2) Our Acharyas have had the most liking for Dwayam; Shastras like Thirumantram the most; Lord likes Charama Slokam the most; 3) When asked what we need to do after the surender to him, it is said "Keep Chanting Dwayam with its meaning in heart" "Dwayam arthanu sandhanenasaha srirange sukhamasva" - From gadya thrayam of our Emberumanar. This was followed by Periya jeeyar till his last breath, his lips were contantly chanting the Dwayam. 4) Dwayam is the Mantra Ratnam, Thiurmantram is the MantraRaja. The Raja always worries about the safekeeping of the Ratnam, Ratnam never worries about the Raja and is quite independent. But Azhvar paurams indicate dwayam better than dwayam itself, i.e: Even Dwayam looks deficient is some aspects when we look at azhvar pasurams. (eg: Ahalihillen - ThiruvAimozhi (6.10.10).pasuram vyakhyanam can be referred - Or adiyen can write this in detail later, if devotees see a need for this) Once Sri Parasara Bhattar Svami, in his childhood asked periyavas at that time, you are all Ramanuja Sishyas, in all your wisedom can you not find some mantra even better and more complete than Dwayam? Periyavas replied, since Dwayam has been repected and chanted and taught by our Purvacharyas as Mantra Ratnam, we will not go beyond this. This is the ultimate mantra Ratnam. PS: Sri U.Ve Velukkudi Krishnan Swami delivered a beautiful and moving upanyasam on Ahalahillen pasuram in Chicago in 2002. Most of us were in tears for two hours during the upanyasam. The live experience is always the best, but for those who missed it, you can get a copy of the full Set of BhagawathVishayam from Velukkudi Swami's 2002 USA Visit: http://www.vedics.net/products/audio/index.html Under Velukkudi Swami: Kovil Thiruvaimozhi: 33 Hrs. This is a must for any Sri Vaishnava Library Set. These tears of joy are the treasures that our purvacharyas have left behind for us, and no other treasure can compare to this anubhavam.
