Guest guest
Well, well,We the Dubaites were the lucky one's this time ! The ambience was right & there was serenity in the air and everything seemed to be pefect. Thanks to the organisers. As rightly said, the asthikas were anxiously waiting for the opening of the lecture by Sri Velukkudi Sri Krishnan on Sri Vishnu Sahasranama Mahimai. After the initial introduction,Sri Krishnan opened his talk with guru vandanam, prayer to the beautifull tanjore painting of Lord Sri Sita Ramachandra Moorthy & Lord Sri Balaji, which was kept in the hall.It looked to me quite right because the entire lecture centred around importance of sri rama nama mahimai, which is very important in this kali yuga & is the only way for our salvation. The talk opened with the question addressed to Lord Parameshwara by Godess Parvati (on our behalf,if i may add) "Keno Upayena Laguna sloka",what is the easy way or short cut to attain the benefit of chanting vishnu sahasranamam ? & the Lord Parameshwara replies with the sloka "Sri Rama, Ramethy",that mere chanting of the name of lord rama, krishna will give the great benefit of sri vishnu namah parayanam. Druing the lectures Sri Krishnan highlighted the importance of of namah smranam thru various examples, quotes from vedas, pasurams etc. The talk was par-excellence,deep rooted,ex-temporal and if i am not out of context,it was like Muthu Kulithal. We could see Sri Krishnan himself enjoying his own words on namah bakhti, alongwith us. To summarise, the value & importance of nama smaranam,Sri Krishnan give us the example of a child burning the fingers by touching the lamp & anxious mother questioning "Agni" for buring her child.Agni replies to her that it his nature to burn anybody who touch it. So also the Bhagavan Namah Samaran gives, its blessing immediately, whether it is uttered with bakthi or not. This can be kept as a pointer to develop our bakthi towards sriman narayanan. He leaves it us,how we would like to use this nama smaranam by another example of having precious stone in the hands of a layman, who trades it cheaply,or a merchant, who trades it for a profit or a collector, who keeps it permanently with him & enjoys its beauty forever, meaning are we going to ignore nama mahimai ? or use only for the worldly pelasures ? or to be one in the eternal bliss of the Lord ? The choice was left us. He then, took up the first sloka, the conversation between sri bhishmacharya & yudhishtra, where in the later seeks the advice of sri bhishmacharya by posing six questions to him. Discourse started with questions of Mata Parvati Devi and ended with the questions of from Sri Yudishtra ! Hari Om chandar Mail - You care about security. So do we.
