Guest guest
Sri: Srimathe Ramanujaya Nama: As Sri T.A. Varadhan pointed out, the sannidhi was established for his acharyan Swami Ramanujar by his close disciple Anandazhvan. This is recorded in many places. It is not only in Thirumalai, that Ramanuja has the acharya mudra, as opposed to the anjali mudra. In all places where this occurs, there is clear local history to explain why this is the case. The reason for Thirumalai has been explained by Sri Vedaraman Sriraman. Since a reference to Manavala Mamunikal was made in this thread, please note that Mamunikal has the acharya mudra in Srirangam. Also note carefully the left hand of Ramanuja at Thirumalai. He does not hold suvadis in his left hand with fingers pointing forward, which is the mark of Desikar. This fact was supposed to have been pointed out by the Periya Jeeyar at Thirumalai, Saadhu Ramanujachariar, when the same question was raised in his time. He is said to have remarked, whether the people who are questioning have lost their eye sight.
