Guest guest
Jai shri Krishna. I'm confused about the number of verses (slokas) in Sri Mukunda mala stotram. Sri Vaishnava websites such as Prapatti.com and srivaishnavam.com, have versions of the Stotra in 42 slokas. However i have seen the Bhaktivedanta Book trust copy Transalated by Srila Prabhupada and his disciples, here we have mukunda mala stotra of 53 slokas. The confusion continues from sloka 7 onwards, where the verses do no correspond with each other. For example verse 7 of the 41 verse version starts... kriShNa tvadIya padapaN^kaja paJNjarAntam.... whereas in the 53 verse version sloka 7 starts cintayami harim eva santatam ..... Can someone please shed some light on this please?????????? And if possible what was the exact version of Mukunda mala stotram which was sung by Sri Kulasekhara Alawar???????? Guest guest
Dear All Please accept my humble pranamam It seems that there are several versions of mukundamala. I also humbly request the elders in the group to shine light on this. In this website http://www.indiadivine.org/mukunda-mala-stotra.htm mukundamala has 53 slokas, and this doesnft end with the concluding verse gyasya priyou Sruthidharoucccch But the book I have which is published by Ramakrishna mission, with a small commentary by swami mridananda has 44 verses (the book is in malayALam). mukundamala text in prapathi.com, has 4 slokas missing in the end. After the 39th sloka starting gKshIra Sagaratharanga SIkaraccch mukunda mala is concluded with gyasya priyou Sruthidharoucccch as 40th verse. The book I have has 4 more slokas, which adds up to 44 total slokas for mukunda mala, excluding the thaniyan of the azhwar. (Authorship of mukundamala endorsed to SrI kulaSEkhara perumAL Azhwar is another question). Please find the 4 slokas, here with, kindly forgive me for the error in the transliteration. After the 39th slokam according to prapatthi.com gKshIra Sagaratharanga SIkaraccch 39 praNamAmISasya Sira:phalam vidus- thadarcchanam pANIphalam divaoukasa: mana:palma thadguNa thatthwa chinthanam vAchasthu gOvindaguNasthava: phalam 40 ArthA vishaNNA SithhilAScha bhIthA ghOrEshu cha vyAdhishu varththamAnA: SankIrthya nArAyaNasabdamAthram vimuktha du:khAssukhinObhavanthi 41 nArAyaNAya nama ithyayamEva sadya- ssamsAra ghOravishasamharaNAya manthra: SruNvanthu bhavyamathayO yathayOçstharAgA ucchaIstharAmupadiSAmyahamUrddhvabAhu: 42 vandE mukundamaravindadaLAyathAksham kundEnduSamkhadaSanam SiSugOpavEsham indrAdidEvagaNavanditha pAdapIThAm vrindAvanAlayamaham vasudEvasUnum 43 and concludes with gyasya priyou Sruthidharoucccch as 44th verse it looks like there are at least 3 versions in practice.
