Guest guest
i dont have a hard copy to reproduce. It runs as, the balan was not able to stand or run? was it because of his fear for mother? was it due to vatsalya that he had? was he afraid? again an exponent today was saying: Maiya mori mai nahi maakhan kayo, arey mayya mai ne hi makhan kayo? what a great lyric, what a leela. Great postings from kannan swami?! same kannan? or kannan swami (as aandavan swami was refered to). dasan/raghavanMadhavakkannan V <srivaishnavan > wrote: SrI:SrImathE Gopaladesika Mahadesikaya namah:Dearest allToday 's is His Thirunakshathram. The Sri Jayanthi-the day Kutti KaNNan appeared. The following incidentshave been reported to be about Kutti KaNNan’schEshtithangaL. On the birthday of Kutti KaNNan’s,this is adiyEn’s humble birthday offering to thelittle darling Lord of ours. If we contemplate on Hisstealing the butter incidents, He would steal ourhearts as well and get us rid of all our futurebirths...1. One old Gopika sthree came to YashOdhA. “YashOdhE!It is not enough, if you have just given birth. Youshould know how to bring up a well-manneredchild. Do you know what did your boy do? He came intomy home and asked for milk rice (paaRchOru). He atethat and then asked for butter. After eating food, Iwill not give butter- I said categorically. He angrilywent to the backyard of our house and tied all calvesto their respective mother cows’ legs. The calvesdrank all milk and could not even walk with theirstomachsso much full. I happened to go there and see Him alsostanding smiling sheepishly. “yENdaa ippadi seydhhay?(why did you do like that?)”- When I asked Him, Hesaid immediately, “maami! (aunty!) Your calves are allverylean. They should drink more milk and then only theywill become chubby like me. My mother gives me milksaying that then only I would become fat andchubby. That is why I released them, maami. Then theywill become fat and chubby. Hence forth, you also dothat maami- He advised in addition to doingthat mischief.2. Another GopasthrI said, “ammA YashOdhE! I gavebutter (veNNai) to your Boy KaNNan, and do you knowwhat He did. He went to the back yard and distributedto dogs, cats, and monkeys. I got terribly angry. Icaught hold of Him and asked Him “why did you do likethat?”. He said “maami.. Your butter stinks and hasbecome spoiled. How can I eat that? At least let thesepoor animals eat. See, they too are not drinking. Itis so unbearable. At least here after give some goodbutter to them. He immediately fled from myhand.3. Girls of KaNNan’s age knocked the door of yaSodhA,“maami.. mammi.. We had adorned our entrances with 16point kOlam, coloured kOlam with flower inthe middle etc.. Your KaNNan comes and says, “Thislotus kOlam is not good; this 16 point kOlam is ugly;this middle flower does not look nice”- sayingthis, he spoils all kOlams that we had drawn. “.Please call him inside so that we can continue withour kOlam preparation at our homes4. maamI.. your kaNNan (when my mother was combing myhair) places the PoosaNi (pumpkin) flower (which waskept in the middle of kOlam above the cow dung) on myhead, without my knowledge. romba paduttharaan maami..I am reminded of Swamy desikan's Gopala Vimsathy, slokam 5. "hartthum kumbhE..KaNNan slowly enters into the kitchen. He looks there;and here; no one is around. This is the right time.YasOdhA, after getting vexed with the mischievousbutter-stealing acts, keeps the butter in a differentcontainer and at a different place to mislead ourKutti KaNNan. But our Lord- the sarvEshwaran- Does Henot know where the “veNNai” is? Will He get misled? No.He tip-toes towards the big pot (which is tall as He)-He opens the lid. And with great effort, puts thewhole hand in upto the shoulder and takes a handful ofbutter; puts the whole lot into His mouth. Not enough. He dips in again! Oh My God! YasOdhA has come in! Shehas seen everything. He is caught stealing the butter-with His mouth full of butter, - with His hand fullydipped into the pot. What will He do now?SarvEshwaran- Our Lord Kutti KaNNan is “scared” of thevisible angry mother approaching Him. Will she hitHim? Will she scold Him? What puishment will she giveHim? He is perplexed.Should He run away? He has taken off one foot and isready to run. At the same time, He is not able to runaway because He is cornered and fully caught redhanded. He is neither standing nor is He running! Thelittle Lord of ours has decided to close His eyes, unable to see what is going to happen, thinking thatHe can avoid the punishment by closing His eyes! TheUniversal Lord,- who protects the whole Universe andeven beyond, simply and effortlessly in His Yoganitthirai on AdhisEshan, with complete awarenessand knowledge of all and every thing that happenseverywhere- is having His eyes now closed to avoidseeing His mother coming towards Him!Swamy Sri Vedanta Desikan’s enjoyment is beyonddescription in words.
