Guest guest
Dear all, I came across the following pasuram by Nammazhwar- Thiruvoimozhi 7.1.6 viNNuLaar _perumaaRku adimaicheyvaaraiyum cheRum* aimpulanivai,* maNNuL ennaip peRRaal* en_cheyyaamaRRu neeyumvittaal?* paNNuLaay! kavi thannuLaay!* paththiyinuLLaay! parameechanE,* vandhen- kaNNuLaay! nenchuLaay!* cholluLaay! onRu chollaayE. 7.1.6 Here azhwar is praying that even the vinnular are controlled by the five senses. Who does he refer to as viNNulaar here ? The Nitya Suris or the devas in the devaloka. What are the aimpulan referred here? Because in BG 13.6, The Lord mentions, "indriyAni dasaikam cha pancha chEndriya go charA" for kshetram and these are coming from the pradhana which is within the jada lokam. So, how do we take viNNulAr to be Nitya sooris? Ramanuja dasi Vedavalli Ranganathan
Guest guest
Dear Madam, The emphasis here is not on viNNuLAr by itself but for those who serve the LOrd of viNNuLAr. EmperumAn is the even Lord for viNNuLAr. Those who serve this EmperumAn are 'viNNuLAr perumARku adimai seivAr" . Here, viNNuLArrefers to nithya-Suri-s. The question whether these torment even nithya sUri-s there,is taken up. Yes, it does so. Is there a precedent? The incident of Sri Periya Thriuvadi and sumukan is narrated to prove this point. KInldy refer to EDu vyAkyAnam for this pAsuram.'Thirvadiyaiyaiyum 'enakku' ennap paNNiRRirEA. Thus if nithya-sUri-s are tormented by these five senses there, then can the degree of torture be lesser here in this world. Then why Oh! Lord are you still keeping me here " is the despair words from mARan. 'vunnilA aivar vudan iruthi ivvulagil , eNNilA mAyan enai naliya eNNuginRAn.." thiruvAi mozhi nURRandhAdhi 61; How, then to escape from these .The answer to this also is given in the seventh pAsuram. " enRu yAn velgiRpan vun thiruvaruL illaiyEAl' With the Grace of EmperumAn. Guest guest
Dear Sri Padmanabhan Swamin, If one becomes a nithyasUri by His grace, how can be subjected to the modes of nature and/or the five senses?? The literal meaning of the word "Vaikuntha" means a place without anxiety. It is fair to assume that a jeevatma is subjected to anxiety when he is subjected to the modes of material nature, or when he uses his five senses for anything but service to the Lord. What we see here seems to contradict the very concept of Moksham. I request you to kindly address this paradox. Dasan, Kidambi Soundararajan. Guest guest
Dear Sri Padmanabhan Swami, Namaskaram. Both in Bhagavad Gita 13.6 and 15.7, the lord mentions that the five senses are associated with the ksetra, material body and within prakrti. How do we understand Nitya-suris who have a suddha sattva sarira being affected by the five senses? Guest guest
The answers will definitely be there as given in Edu vyAkhyAnam..can someone with the needed resources (the book and the TamiL reading skills) kindly post what is written there?? In fact a similar question arises in Mumukshuppadi tirumantra prakaraNam where 'virodhi' (kainkarya hAni) is mentioned even for nityas and muktAs ...but probably the explanation given for 'kainkarya hAni' there is the feeling of happiness felt by themselves in the performance of kainkaryas instead being only for His happiness. vedavalli ranganathan <vedaranga > wrote: Dear Sri Padmanabhan Swami,Namaskaram.
