Guest guest
srImathE rAmAnujAya namaha srImadh varavara munayE namaha When Siva offered a boon to Banasura, that whoever gets touched by him (banasura) will be burned, Banasura wanted to test the boon. So he tried to touch Siva himself to test. Out of fear Siva ran and surrendered to Vishnu to save him. Vishnu protected Siva by taking the Mohana avataram and appeared in front of Banasuran and mesmerised him to touch his head, by himself and he got burnt. This touching of siva is the posture in which He protected the surrendered siva. Many of the present day saivaites, have added a flower in the photos (though this is not a case in thiruvananthapuram itself) to say that sri padmanabha swamy is worshipping Siva. Guest guest
SrI: please accept adiyen's humble pranam the present mulavar at thriuvanantha puram is not the one seen by Azhwar, the old murtham was belived to be made of wood. in 1750 after the problems regarding the successions then prince Martanda Varma of the Travancore Kingdom, in a spectacular ceremony surrendered the kingdom to SrIpadmanAbha, and then onwards all the kings are known as SrI padmanabha dAsa. it was during marthaNda varmAs time, the temple got completly renovated, and is now standing to its present glory. the present mUla mUrthy, is perhaps the largest Sayana thirukkOlams, and can be seen only through 3 sanctum doors. at that time, 12000 thIrtha nAyanArs (sAlagramam) were baught from gaNdaki nadi, they were wraped in gold wires, and covered with KaDuSarkara (a mixture of jaggery, mustard, granite powder etc)and the present murthy was made. there is not only a sivalingam, but also brahma, saptha rishis, indradi devas performing kainkaryam inside the sanctum, to our lord, recling in the AdiSEshaparyankam with SrI bhUmi dEvi nAcchiyArs. nammALwArs mangaLASAsanam in thiruvAzymozhi is the last mangalasasanam for kerala based divya desams, 10.2.1 is a place, after "thALathAmarai" and before "vEymeru thOLInai" with adiyEns limited knowledge here adiyen is quoting from AzhWars pasuram it would be extremly helpful if the learned bhagavathas in the group can provide explicit quoting from Edu vyAkhyAnam about this. how emperumAn is giving darsanam is like * ulakellaam undumizndhaan* chErum thaNNanandhapuram* The Bhagawaan, who ate and brought the universe back, after the PraLayam (Cosmic cycle) is here most gracefully presenting Himself at Thiruvananthapuram. and towards the end of the pathikam there is a clear statement about Siva naamumpOy naNukavEndum* kumaranaar thaathai* thunbam thudaiththa kOvindhanaarE. 10.2.6 Let us also join the NityasUris and involve ourselves deeply in Bhgawath Kaimkaryams to This Emperumaan- Govindhan- is the One who removed the sin of SubrahmaNyan's Father, Sivan and the total feeling of the pathikam seems to go to thiruvanathapuram and perform kainkaryam immediatly, without a second of delay Sreekanth AzhwAr emperumAnAr jIyar thiruvaTikaLE SaraNam FareChase: Search multiple travel sites in one click. http://farechase.
