minutes car drive from Charniroad station in Mumbai - Thennaachaarya

sampradhaayam, Paancharaathra Aagamam)) These Paatasaalais were run, by

private contributions from, may be trusts,run by Sri.Jeeyar, and if I am not

mistaken, by KuCi trust.(I am not sure, but I believe "yezhuththaaLar"

"Sujaatha"sri.Rangarajan belongs to this lineage). 3.Other individual

Swamis,like “Kutti Rangarajan” (Of Thirumalai Ananthaanpillai

Thiruvamsam) Annan Swami from Annanthirumaalikai,Sri.Raama iyengar – Srirangam

vaanamaamalai matam) Sri.Bhashyam Iyengar Swami –Sri.Srinivasan /Sri.Sampath of

Thirumalai Ananthaanpillai Thiruvamsam again, are contributing in their

available time, out of their own volition. 4.Araiyar Swami,Vaikuntavaasi

Sri.Nadhamuni swami was also a big contributory to this system,sadly he is no

more there. 5.The laukeeka compulsions/ invasion of computers -read internet

and TV Sorry-als/One day cricket telecast from all over the

world(Sri.Jagan swami from Annan thirumaalikai is a great bowler and an opening

batsman) are also factors which prevent young school children from going to

places like Vaanamaamalai matam/Mudhaliyaandaan thirumaalikai etc where

"sandhai"classes take place. Because of all these factors put together there

is no/lack of an authentic school to teach proper "Sandhai" in Srirangam.

Sampradhaayam, there is no Aachaarya swami to authentically teach

Arulichcheyal as per “Poorvaachaarya MuRai” .Its a Big apology, when a

Arulichcheyal ghOshti of the said group comes along during Swami.DhEsikar

Purappaadu.I do not consider myself qualified to argue about the rendition by

the said group, but having myself learnt "Sandhai" from a respected Scholar,

its nothing to write home about.I atleast cannot differentiate between

Thiruvaaimozhi, Naanmukan Thiruvandhaadhi, thiruppaavai, Nootrandhaadhi and

"Sree Sthuthi" or “Bhgavath dhyaana Shobaanam , when rendered by the said

group. Again, nothing has been done to

point this out / correct During the 4 Uthsavams for NamperumaaL, (Bhoopathi

thirunaaL in the month of Thai, TheppOrchavam in Maasi,Pankunith thirunaaL in

Pankuni & Viruppan thirunaaL in Chiththirai), but for the Swamis from

AnnanThirumaaLikai, Bhattar ThirumaaLikai,Nampillai ThirumaaLikai and other

Swayamaacharya ThirumaaLikais –mentioned in point3 above-, who count upto a

maximum of 10, others are drawn from volunteers, who have learnt from

outside.The irony is, these Swamis make a compromise with what(who) is

available and thus, with the available thennaachaarya vaishnavaas,(the

contributions

from Poorvasika srivaishnavaas from ThiruveLLaRai ,especially the sishyakOdis of

mElaththirumaalikai swami in this are yeoman) the GhOshti is continued.This also

encourage more persons to learn and join the ghOshti. As Sri.Vinod has

observed elsewhere in the digest, we all can make these institutions come alive

again.There are many volunteers in Srirangam available.We can make some

contributions to these trusts through Sri.vElukkudi swami or other elders.

The objective / purport of this mail is to

evince an interest to revive the “Paatasaalai tradition in Srirangam and at the

same time to elicit a response from interested members of this informed Group.

So,I humbly request / invite Padhmanabhan Swami to contribute to the

"improvement" of "AruLich cheyal" ghOshti in Srirangam by making himself

available alongwith other Thennaachaarya sampradhaayakaas atleast during the 4

Uthsavams and make it suitable for the Nammaazhwar's words. "Polika!

Polika".....

in Thriuvarangam - The nadai azhagu of Nam PerumAL , the araiyar sEvai

-the quality of which is coming down day by day. What is great in

ThiruvallikkEANi -undoubtedly aruLich cheyal anubhavam. What is great in Kanchi

- the aruLich cheyal ghOshti -the VEAdha ghOsthi and the kudai azhagu. Nobody

can deny this. One can have abimAnam but now for the sake of argument one talks

of aruLIch cheyal ghOshit in SriRangam - I am sorry - even the nithyapadi

ThiruppAvai in udayavar sannidhi is a great disappointment to one and

all.Therefore, let us enjoy the anubhavam-s which are unique to the

divya-dhEsam-s .'paRRalar vEya kOl kaiyin kONdu pArthan than thEar mun ninRAnai
