Guest guest
sri: srimathE rAmAnujaya nama: Humble pranam to all devotees: Azhvar Thirunagari - Emberumanar Sannidhi Appeal http://www.vedics.net/appeals/azhvartn/ Dear Devotees: Please accept our Humble Pranam. Part 3 After his birth, Swami Nammazhwar never behaved like a normal baby. He did not cry, did not laugh, did not drink milk and did not do any activity, which any normal child would do. Seeing this his parents got worried. So they consulted an astrologer, who said that nammazhwar is not a normal child but was divine. They took Swami Nammazhwar to the temple of Thirukurugoor. Swami Nammazhwar who was just 12 days old, started crawling towards a tamarind tree in the temple and sat in padmasana meditating for 16 years from then. He didn’t speak, didn’t drink or eat. Madhura kavi azhwar who was a great jnani, was on a pilgrimage in north India, at that time. One day when he looked towards southern sky, he saw a bright star, and with his knowledge in astronomy and astrology, he realized that a great saint was born in the south. He immediately left to south, with the intention of meeting the great new born. Eventually swami madhurakavi azhwar came to thirukkurukur, and became the sishya, the devotee and the caretaker, of swami nammazhwar (adiyen is not going into details here as it is not our topic of discussion here). It was madhurakavi azhwar who taught us the achAryAbhimAnam for the first time, “thevu maththariyEn kurukUr nambi pAvin innisai pATiththirivanE” as he states in kaNNiNunchirutthAmbu. It was swami madhurakavi azhwar, who penned down the entire corpus of thiruviruththam, thiruvAsiriyam, periyathiruvanthAthi and thiruvAymozhi of swAmi nammAzhwAr. Madhurakavi AzhwAr once requested swAmi nammAzhwAr that “once you finish the prabandhams you will leave for paramapadam. adiyEn would like to see you, and perform kainkaryams to you as long as adiyEn lives here”. Then swAmi nammAzhwAr asked madhurakavi AzhwAr to bring water from thramraparni river, and boil it. From the boiling waters a divyamangaLa vigraham came out with an anjali hastham. Madhurakavi AzhwAr recognized that this is not azhWars vigraham, so he went to AzhwAr and conveyed the news. Then azhwar replied him, this is the acharya I mentioned in the poliga poliga…. Pathigam. He will be the bhavishyad achArya, who will be born to relieve the samsaris from kail’s plays. “Kaliyum kedum kandu konmin………” with such a confidence azhwar points happly towards the future birth of emperumAnAr. AzhwAr again asked madhurakavi azhwar to continue boiling and then came a divya mangala vigraham of azhwar himself with jnana mudrai. Through the bhavishyad achArya vigraha the avathara rahasya was revealed to madhura kavi azhwar much earlier than the real avathara took place. But since the person was not born during that time, madhura kavi azhwar kept the bhavishyad acharya vigraham under a small pit, near to the sacred tamarind tree. And kept nammazhwar vigraham in his thiruvaradhanam. Both divya mangaLa vigrahams are worshiped in azhwar thirunagari at present. How the bhavishyad achArya shrine was built…we will continue in the next post These postings are excerpts from the upanyasam of sri M. R. Ramanujam. Adiyen is responsible for the mistakes committed in this series of postings ==========Continued on part 4 ========== Sri Ramanuja's original temple with the Vigraham from ~3200 BCE (first received by MadhurakaviAzhvar) is in need of your support. http://www.vedics.net/appeals/azhvartn/ ================================== azhwAr emperumAnAr jIyar thiruvadikaLE SaraNam
