The bhavishyad achArya vigraham was again brought back

to worship during the time of thiruvaymozhipiLLai. He

built “rAmAnuja chathurvEdi mangalam” (the next street

to azhwar shrine) and built a separate shrine for

emperumanar, and installed bhavishyad achArya vigraham

there. During that time in thirumalai, lord commanded

the then jIyar to move to azhwar thirunagari and stay

there for the kainkaryam of emperumAnAR. He is known

as thiruvAymozhi rAmAnuja jIyar, who was the first

jIyar of the emperumAnAr maTham in azhwar thirunagari.

The present pontiff is the 39th successor. SwAmi

maNavALamAmunikaL was given Asrama swIkAram from the

7th pattam saThagOpa rAmAnuja jIyar of the same

maTham. Besides emperumAnAr sannidhi, swAmi

thiruvAymozhipiLLAi also built separate shrines for

all other achAryas, thirukkachi nambikal, uyyakkondAr,

nampiLLai, piLLailOkAchAryar, vEdAntha dESikan, periya

nambikaL to name a few. After manavALamAmunikaLs time,

a separate sannidhi for mamunikaL was also built.

 

The AzhwAr temple and the emperumAnAr sannidhi are

well connected and has a lot of importance in our

sampradAyam. Annually AzhwAr, and bhavishyad AchAryan

meet together approximately 17 times for uthsavam’s

and purapAAdu (procession). Many of these uthsavams

have very many special procedures which one can see

only in azhwAr thirunagari.

 

In the mArgazhi pakal patthu irApathtu uthsavam, an

invitation letter (lagna pathrikai) is sent from

AzhwAr sannidhi to emperumAnAr sannidhi, inviting him

to attend the thiruppallandu uthsavam. During all

these period where ever azhwar goes in procession

emperumAnAr follows him. One of the striking event is

the 8th uthsavam of pakal paththu, for “kaNaiyAzhi

thEduthal” when nammAzhwAr goes in procession with his

hamsa vAhanam, bhavishyadAchAryan follows him in a

palanquin.

 

Most importantly the 10th day of pakal pathu, that is

the eve of vaikuNda EkAdaSi, nammAzhwAr is given a

sayanathirukkOlam, with his divine thiruvadis placing

on emperumAnArs laps. emperumAnAr is decorated with

nAchiyAr thirukkOlam, and both together give darSan in

nAyakA-nAyaki bhAvam.

 

During the 7th day of mASi uthsavam , 7th day of

vaikASi uthsavam and for margazhi thiruvAthirai,

special thirumanjanam is performed for AzhwAr and

emperumAnAr, in EkasimhAsanam.

 

adiyEn has listed only a few of the many uthsavas

which are conducted with great devotion in AzhwAr

thirunagari. Both AzhwAr temple and bhavishyad

AchAryan sannidhi are of very much importance to the

SrIvaishNava sampradAyam. We should not forget the

pains taken by swAmi thiruvAymozhi piLLai to protect

and keep the both divyamangaLa vigrahams. The present

temple for emperumAnAr sannidhi was built

approximately 700 years back and since last 100 years

it is not at all undergoing any maintenance. As the

children of emperumAnAr, it’s our duty to keep these

sannidhis in the proper condition. Even though there

were lot of lands, and rice fields for the sannidhi as

an assent, eventually due to political conditions all

are lost. The approximate annual income is around

15000 INR, which is not even enough for a months

expenditure. The nithyappadi expenditure is also in a

very difficult condition.

 

Most important part is that the vimanam is falling

apart without maintenances and it is afraid that even

if it rains harshly for couple of days every thing

will fall down (quoting the engineers report).

emperumAnAr sannidhi was given to us as paithruka

dhanam. So adiyEn feels it is our duty for take care

of our wealth.
