This morning,"Podigai,"the D.D.Tamil channel was relaying the Thirumangai

Alwars Mangalasasanam of Divya Desams. It was a sacred sight, capturing the

Alwar and his consort in full majestic and charming glory.

The Alwar was being carried by dedicated "Sripadam Thangigals "( persons

who carry the Lords Lotus feet on their shoulder) and towards the end of

the second part,DD news reporter interviewed a person from this group.

the interview goes like this

DD.How many of you are involved in this activity

A;About 48

DD.How long you are at this activity.

A.generation after generation, our family members are involved.

DD.How much you get for this service.

A.We may get a total of rs 150/ per person, but it is not the money for which

we are in this activity

DD.You people walk so fast, how many kms you cover.

A.May be 15 to 20 kms ,but we are not supposed to think about it.

DDWhen you become old will you not become tired and who will do this job

A.We will do this so,long as we are physically fit, and thereafter our

children and other youngsters take over from us.

DD.You mean to say all of you are totally involved.

A.Few generations back few other community were also involved but last

three generations this activity is carried out buy our village families only

and we will continue to do it most willingly and has a honor.

The moment of truth in all its radiance came out of the subsequent

statement. by that person

"It is He who has destined us to do this work and it is He who has made us

think about Him and we are fortunate to do this work and again it is His

will and desire.WE will happily continue to perform this activity to His

glory "

What do you call this,True Service,True Srivaishnavism you name it.

Honestly ,I learned a basket of meaning on the above two words from this

interview and remembered the Jagathachariyan Emperumanar what he and other

Acharyans wanted a Srivaishnavan to be.
