On July 22, 2001 (Sunday) the Guru Gayatri Mantra Japam has been invoked

following Abhishekam to Lord Dattatreya and Anagha Maata along with Siva Sakti

Linga, the one that was sent by Pujya Sri Swamiji.

As of July 22, the total committed figure for the Japam stands at 5,141,310

which is approximately 50% of the required number.

It would be much appreciated to get more people to join the committed devotees to make up the rest.

It would be much appreciated if the devotees give the actual number rather than

the number of cycles of 108 ( e.g. some people said that they would do 2 or 3

,meaning 2 times 108, or 3 times 108 ).

Those who commit themselves to the mantra Japam will get the blessings of the

Sadguru. Needless to say that doing the Japam with concentration and focus,

will enhance the good effects and the recovery of our Sadguru.

We will do Mahasankalpa for new people on Sunday (July 29) in the morning.

They can start the Japa on Monday morning (July 30) keep the count.

We will do Mahasankalpa each week on Sunday for devotees who sign up to

do Guru Gaytrai Mantra. As I mentioned, you can also request your family

members and other interested persons to send their names and other information

along with the number of Japas they want to do each day until Marh 12, 2002.

GURU MANTRA JAPAM

Sunday July 22, 2001 - Tuesday March 12, 2002

As many of you know that we sent lengthy information about the circumstances

that have resulted in making a decision to start chanting ONE Crore (10

million) Guru Gayatri Mantra Japam. With Sri Swamiji's blessings we are

planning to start the japa on May 22 and conclude on March 12, 2002. For

Following are the steps to chant Guru Gayatri Mantra Japam :

1) Try to do Guru Gayatri Mantra japam either in the morning (preferably before

sun rise)or in the evening (preferably after sunset) when there is quietness and

silence. Timings can be flexible to suit the convenience of the participants.

2) Sit in a Padmaasana (Lotus) posture in front of Sri Swamiji's picture.

3) Whenever you are ready to do Guru Mantra japa, first you should invite

Parama Guru, Paraatpara Guru and Parameshti Guru mentally on to the Sahsraara

Chakra which is located on top of your head. How do we invite these gurus?

a) Imagine in your own mind the Padukas of Parama Guru Sri Swamiji being

placed on your Sahasranama Chakra b)Imagine in your own mind the Padukas of

Paraatpara Guru Sri Jayalakshmi Mata being placed on your Sahasranama Chakra

c) Imagine in your own mind the Padukas of Parameshti Guru Sri Dattatreya being

on your Sahasranama Chakra

One has to feel that our Sadguru Sri Swamiji has personally come and helping us

to do Guru Mantra japa by sitting on our Sahasranama Chakra.

Then do the above Guru Gayatri Mantra japa.

4) In case of a death in the extended family one should avoid reciting Mantra

Jap for 11 days; and women should abstain 5 days during the time of the monthly

cycle.

5) Devotees can make up the Mantra Japa if they had missed for any unavoidable reasons.

6) It is highly beneficial to the devotees if they can do Guru Pada Puja or

recite Datta Sthava three times on every Thursday and also fast on that day if

health permits.

7) Please send information about how many Guru Gayatri mantra japas you can do

per day along with your name, Gotra, Nakshtra and address to dthtbr (AT) aol (DOT) com as

soon as possible1. Sri Shankramanchi will perform Mahasankalpa on July 29

(Sunday) for all those who are participating in this Japa.

Each family member is encouraged to do it separately.

Then you can start the japa after Mahasankalpa, that is after 1:00 pm Eastern Time.

You have up to March 12 (that is about 7 ½ months) to chant the Japa

Please NOTE that the number of Japas you are planning to chant per day is

flexible. The number you decide is only a target. One may do more or less. That

should not concern any body. One should not feel that they have nor fulfilled

the commitment and feel guilty.

8) After completing the desired number of Guru Manta Japas on March 12, please

After receiving the information from all the devotees at the end of Diksha

period, Sri Shankaramanch will do special Puja for the devotees who

participated in this Mantra Japa Yajna.

Then we will submit these papers at the Lotus feet of His Holiness Sri Ganapathi

Sachchidananda Swamiji on His 60th birthday in June 2002.
