In general, it is celebrated in the month of Bhadrapada masa (month) when the moon is waxing bright. This festival is dedicated to Lord Ganesh, the elephant headed son of Lord Siva and Parvati, who is considered as the embodiment of success and wisdom.He is the who is propitiated before undetaking any religious activity.
