Dear Datta Devotees and friends, Jaya Guru Datta Now more than a

week has passed since the tragic events of terrorism in New York, Washington

and Pennsylvania on September 11. We are all still in shock. We pray for all

the victims of those acts, their families, and the rescue workers involved. We

pray for those souls, and we pray for the United States and the world, and its

citizens, for these acts affect everyone everywhere. We are grateful for the

support and sympathy of friends, and for the loving support of our Beloved

Sadguru, Sri Swamiji. On September 15 (Sunday), Special Shanti mantras were

chanted at Datta Temple in Baton Rouge, LA for the all those who lost their

lives in the World Trade Center attack, Pentagon attack and Plane crash in

Pennsylvania. Following Abhishekam to Lord Dattatreya and Anagha Devi, V. V. P.

Rao requested every body to observe one minute of Silence in the memory of those

who died and those who are missing. Then Rao read passages from different

scriptures such as Bhagavad Gita, Brihadaaranyaka Upanishad, Chandogya

Upanishad, Bharavata Purana, Garuda Purana, Mahabharata and other scriptures

discussing about the nature of death and passage of the soul to heaven

requesting various Gods to bless all those souls who were separated from the

bodies; and also give enough strength to the families of these victims.

 

This Sunday at 11:00 am at Datta Retreat Center, a program will be held in honor

of all those who lost their lives due to these terrorist attacks, and for their

families. Datta/Anagha puja will be performed, Datta prayers and mantras will

be repeated, and a special peace bhajan will be sung. If you can, please join

us for this time of silence, peace and healing.

Remembering Sri Swamiji's first instructions to all the devotees, shortly after

the disaster - Do not worry, do Datta Smarana (think about Datta, pray to

Datta) for protection, and inform everybody to keep praying to Lord Datta,

Datta is the only saviour now...
