We area pleased to announce that Datta Temple in Baton Rouge will conduct

Navaratri celebrations: October 17-26, 2001. Navaratri means nine nights. Nine

different aspects of Devi are worshipped on these nine days seeking the

blessings to destroy the six vices: lust, anger, greed, ego, attachment, and

hatred; and to enrich us with love, compassion, devotion, kindmess, patience

and charity.

Nine aspects of Devia are Gowri, Rajarajeswari, Durga, Meenakshi,

Parashakti, Visalakshi, Saraswati, Chandi and Shaki. Generally, devotees

observe fasting and worship Durga these nine days, basically to seek the

blessings of Durga Devi.

On tenth day, Vijaya Dashami is celebrated.
