Guest guest
Jai guru datta! Thanks for the info! I am a little unclear about the concept of kapata being related to 'having motives' -- to me the direct translation of 'kapata' means 'false' -- which implies that there is an underlying negative motive of such bhakti -- having a desire / purpose does not necessarily mean that the person has 'false' bhakti right? Or does it? I'm thinking that this relates to 'false bhakti' in the sense that a person does not actually have 'faith' but pretends to for the sake of name or power or whatever... not sure... if anyone can clarify that'd be great! anyway, thanks! pradyumna --- Dhurbassa Chattergoon <dschats wrote: > Jai guru datta > I think I read somewhere(cannot lay my hands on the > exact reference) that > Kapata bhakti has to do with devotion with a purpose > to fulfill a > desire/want like saying a prayer to obtain money/job > etc. Nishkapati bhakti > is devotion without desire or want or purpose. Guest guest
Jai Guru Datta !!! Shree Guru Datta !!! I think Kapata connotes deception. Therefore the question remains, how can bhakti be deceptive ? What comes to mind, is that one might be engaged in Bhakti for display, which would fall under deceptive bhakti. Which then brings us the question: What is nishkapata bhakti ? This would have to be bhakti devoid of deception. I think we need to define bhakti, though we intuitively know what it is. I think bhakti could be defined as 'adoration'. With this, we could say that Nishkapata Bhakti bhakti is: adoration without deception. The love of the Gopis for Lord Krishna is a prime example.
